HHG has 3 manufacturing plants in Hawai'i, as well as the state's largest single macadamia farm.

POSITION SUMMARY: 

Under the direction of the Quality Assurance (QA) Manager, the QA Supervisor assists with developing, implementing, and managing QA programs and activities to ensure compliance with company policies, food safety standards, government regulations, and industry best practices, including GMP, HACCP, and FSMA. This role provides leadership in driving continuous improvement for product and process quality. 

 

The QA Supervisor ensures product safety, quality, and compliance by managing testing, labeling, and inspections, while overseeing QA staff and operations. Key duties include audits, non-conformance investigations, corrective actions, and maintaining food safety documentation. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Lead and manage QA staff, providing technical guidance, oversight, and on-the-job training. 
  • Develop and implement training programs for quality, food safety, and food defense objectives. 
  • Foster team growth through clear development plans, regular feedback, and mentorship. 
  • Assist insanitation operations to ensure compliance with pre-op and daily production standards. 
  • Inspire a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability. 
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and quality programs, including GMP, HACCP, FSMA, and customer requirements. 
  • Assists QA Manager in overseeing and executing inspections, audits, and Quality prerequisite programs. 
  • Manage HACCP assessments, develop plans, and maintain records to ensure regulatory compliance. 
  • Support recall readiness, conduct mock recalls, and track quality KPIs for continuous improvement. 
  • Address quality issues and implement corrective actions to resolve non-conformances. 
  • Develop and maintain quality control protocols, preventive controls, and specifications for finished goods. 
  • Audit and evaluate inspection results, supplier documentation, and third-party compliance. 
  • Conduct food safety training sessions for all employees, ensuring full compliance with the company's year-round training requirements. 
  • Drive operational excellence by identifying improvement opportunities in products and processes. 
  • Maintain thorough documentation of all food safety and quality programs. 


OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Adhere to all duties and standards in alignment with company policies and procedures. 
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support team and company objectives. 
  • Regular attendance is required for the position.  


EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in food science, food engineering, biology/microbiology, or chemistry; or equivalent experience in Food Safety & Quality Assurance.  
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in Quality Assurance within food manufacturing. 
  • Strong leadership and management skills.  
  • Ability to perform college level mathematical and statistical calculations.  
  • Ability to summarize, interpret test data and make recommendations.  
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills. Able to conduct clear, concise, and convincing business presentations.  
  • Proficient in computer systems and applications.  
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule (i.e., night/day shift) and weekends, as needed.
