What the Job Involves

The Configuration and Data Manager will have an impact in ensuring the accuracy and consistency of data used throughout the company. This role will focus on developing and managing Document Control and Configuration Management processes. As the Configuration and Data Manager, you'll be advising internal teams on data-related procedures and tools, while also leading efforts to continuously improve these processes.

Responsibilities

  • Manage program databases and implement change control processes.

  • Lead Configuration and Data Management (CDM) activities, including requirements, design, hardware, and software configuration.

  • Oversee and facilitate:

    • Change Control Board (CCB) meetings

    • Configuration Status Accounting

    • Configuration Audits

    • Data Management (DM) processes

  • Review engineering change data, analyze impacts, and coordinate changes across departments (engineering, quality, support, manufacturing, operations).

  • Manage data entry into product data management tools and configuration trace systems to ensure data integrity.

  • Validate configuration status accounting for accuracy and completeness.

  • Provide guidance for proper data entry, document creation, and managing open items.

  • Ensure all changes are fully documented, considering impacts, risks, and rollback options.

  • Propagate changes across all relevant tools, databases, and documents.

  • Define and manage a company-wide document control system, including:

    • Setting document templates

    • Creating approval workflows

    • Tracking document reviews

    • Coordinating document submissions to customers

    • Setting document retention policies

    • Ensuring access to the latest document versions

  • Prepare and update Configuration Data Management Plans and program directives outlining CM and DM processes.

  • Ensure compliance with CDM plans for CM and DM implementation.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments to develop and implement policies and procedures for inventory and data integrity.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Configuration & Data Management (CDM)

  • Subject Matter Expertise in CDM processes

  • Proven experience in a Configuration Management role, ideally as a PLM Configuration Manager, or a similar position focused on design engineering support

  • Proficiency in using JIRA, Propel, and Confluence tools

  • Experience working in a development, production, and sustainment environment

  • Strong ability to collaborate across departments (engineering, manufacturing, quality, operations) and work independently as needed

  • Prior experience in the Hardware, Automotive, or Government sector (a plus)

  • Deep understanding of project deliverables and schedule management
