The Role

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented  Compliance Associate to join our Legal and Compliance team. This role focuses on ensuring our organization’s compliance with federal and state lobbying requirements, while also providing support to the  Legal and Compliance teams. The ideal candidate will assist in monitoring legislative and regulatory developments, prepare compliance reports, and support cross-functional teams in maintaining adherence to all relevant laws and regulations.

What You’ll Do

Compliance Monitoring:

  • Stay updated on federal and state lobbying regulations and requirements.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory changes that may impact lobbying activities.
  • Assist in developing and implementing internal compliance policies and procedures.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Prepare and submit lobbying disclosure reports to federal and state agencies as required.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of lobbying activities, including expenditures, contacts, and communications.
  • Assist in compiling data and information for internal audits and reviews.

Support and Coordination:

  • Coordinate with the Growth, Operations, and Legal teams to ensure compliance with lobbying laws.
  • Provide support to the Government Affairs team in planning and executing advocacy strategies.
  • Assist in organizing and maintaining a database of government contacts and stakeholders.

Training and Education:

  • Assist in conducting training sessions for staff on lobbying compliance and ethics.
  • Provide guidance and support to staff on compliance-related questions and issues.

Research and Analysis:

  • Conduct research and track legislative and regulatory issues affecting the organization.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to the Growth, Operations, and Legal teams based on regulatory changes.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the Growth team to identify and mitigate compliance risks in new business opportunities.
  • Support the Operations team in implementing compliance procedures across various functions.
  • Collaborate with the Legal team to address compliance-related legal matters and ensure all activities align with regulatory requirements.

What Excites Us

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Administration, Law, or a related field preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in government affairs, compliance, or a related field preferred.
  • Familiarity with government databases and online research tools.
  • Understanding of the legislative process and government structures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with compliance reporting software is a plus.

Total compensation for this role is market competitive, with a base salary range of $65,000 - $85,000, a 401k match, healthcare coverage, paid time off, and a broad range of other benefits and perks. Review our benefits at Hazel Health Benefits.

This is an exciting position in a fast-paced organization. We offer:

  • A competitive compensation package, including a hiring base pay range of $80,000 - $95,000
  • High-quality medical, dental and vision coverage 
  • 401K with a 100% employer match for contributions up to 4% of salary
  • 15 days PTO and 10 paid holidays annually
  • Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and option for Health Spending Account (HSA) depending on medical coverage
