I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Functions as the lead person and performs a variety of duties to maintain and care for the grounds, vehicles and gardens of the Medical Center.
II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Essential: standing, sitting, walking, stooping/bending, kneeling, crawling, climbing stairs, walking on uneven ground, squatting, twisting body, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking, lifting and carrying usual weight of 40 pounds up to 60 pounds, pushing/pulling usual weight of 30 pounds up to 40 pounds, reaching above, at and below shoulder level, repetitive arm/hand motions, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods, frequent gripping of an object. Operates various garden maintenance tools and equipment.
III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Exposed to outside environmental conditions. Subjected to noise/vibration from operating garden maintenance equipment. Exposure to moving mechanical parts, climbs high places such as roofs and trees and exposed to chemicals (fertilizers and insecticides). Exposed to machinery exhaust fumes, trash odors, outdoor dust.
IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A. Education/Certification and Licensure:
1.Ability to speak, read, write and understand English.
2.Valid Hawaii driver's license required.
3.Negative drug toxicology results obtained through Employee Health according to QMC policy 616-98-63.
4.Specialized training in horticulture preferred.
B. Experience:
1.Three years experience as a groundskeeper required.
2.Supervisory experience preferred.
