The Healthy Minds Alliance is an innovative AmeriCorps program that takes a community-based approach to the mental health crisis by utilizing evidence-based/ informed programs in diverse communities across the nation. There is a sense of urgency in our nation to improve awareness, recognition, and ability to respond to the needs of those experiencing symptoms of mental illness. Healthy Minds Alliance places AmeriCorps members at local crisis call centers across the nation after the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline shifted to the 3-digit number 988. During their one-year service term, AmeriCorps Members are trained in the mental health intervention identified by the local crisis call center. Note: Currently seeking a part-time AmeriCorps member for the following shifts: 1. 12 pm - 4 pm, 5 days per week OR 2. 4 pm - 8 pm, 5 days per week OR 3. 8 pm - 4 am, 3 days per week Members are required to serve part-time (20 hours per week for 10 months). Member Duties : AmeriCorps Members will provide expanded support to meet challenges faced by local crisis call centers across the country after the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline shifted to the 3-digit number 988. AmeriCorps members will participate in suicide prevention/ crisis intervention training so that they can confidently answer calls/ texts/ chats that come into local crisis call centers and advocate for mental health awareness whenever possible. Members will establish and foster relationships with community mental health agencies as partners and resources and reach out to the community to educate on 988. AmeriCorps members will build capacity to recruit other volunteers for the crisis call centers and will assist with onboarding and training of volunteers. This is a part-time, remote AmeriCorps service position (20 hours per week for the 10-month service commitment). Shift options: 1. 12 pm - 4 pm, 5 days per week OR 2. 4 pm - 8 pm, 5 days per week OR 3. 8 pm - 4 am, 3 days per week
