What You’ll Do

We are looking for a Platform Engineer to help lead the deployment and operation of our product infrastructure. Your goal will be to help build, maintain and improve our platform running in AWS. Your expertise in cloud infrastructure, kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, and tools like Terraform, Ansible, and GitLab CI will be essential in creating scalable and secure systems that enable innovative experimentation.   • Implement highly scalable, secure, resilient cloud-native application platforms that host core company applications, toolings, and other services vital to enabling our product to perform in all AWS regions where we are deployed, including GovCloud.

  • Identify, design, and deploy improvements in development and deployment processes so engineers can begin deploying anytime with confidence.

  • Design and implement tooling for the internal platform to collect telemetry data used to gauge its effectiveness in supporting H3's engineers.

  • Help create an effective documentation culture within the Engineering Organization (Confluence, Documentation as code).

  • Participate in effective project management and work allocation (Jira, Agile Concepts).

  • Create Terraform modules and Crossplane compositions that are easily consumed by all of engineering.

  • Be a positive example of automation for infrastructure-as-code, platform operations, and overall CI/CD methodologies.

  • Evaluate new technologies and patterns for automation, application hosting, and improving infrastructure provisioning. Recommend and define the work needed.

What You’ll Bring 

  • 10+ years of experience in DevOps, Platform engineering, or related roles.

  • Ability to manage concurrent initiatives and use effective judgment in prioritization and time management.

  • Creative, self-motivated, pragmatic, disciplined, detail and results oriented.

  • Excellent analytical/problem solving ability.

  • Strong understanding and experience with solution design and flow

  • Strong technical documentation and communication

  • Nice to Haves

    •   Experience in FedRAMP, CC SRG, NIST 800-53, or Authority to Operate (ATO) process.

  • Education

    • Bachelors in Computer Science or STEM or equivalent experience

    • MS in Computer Science a plus

  • Configuration Management (Ansible)

  • Shell Scripting

  • Programming Languages (Python, GoLang a plus)

  • Container Engines (Docker)

  • Kubernetes (RKE2, K3S, EKS)

  • Logging and Metrics (Datadog, OpenSearch)

  • Compute (EC2, Lambda, EKS)

  • Storage (S3, EBS)

  • Database (AuroraRDS - Postgres)

  • Networking (VPC, VPCe, RT53)

Work Authorization & Security Clearance Requirements

Travel Required 

We are a fully remote company, and this job may require up to 5% of travel to be successful.

In accordance with various State’s transparency regulations, we provide the following salary range information for this position:

  • Base salary range: $183,000 - $215,000 annually. The exact salary will be determined based on the selected candidate’s location, qualifications, experience, and relevant skills.

  • Additional compensation: This role may also be eligible for an equity package (in the form of stock options). If any other compensation benefits apply, they will be discussed during the interview process.
