HR Manager (New York)

Description


We are looking for an HR Manager to join our Team in New York.


Lead, manage and evolve the People initiatives for the growing US 1000heads offices with a headcount of approx. 85 staff and collaborate with the global offices (New York, LA, Miami, London, Sydney, Melbourne & Berlin)

Competitive salary; $80,000 - $110,000 (depending on experience)


Role


Help build 1000heads as the leading Social Transformation company through talent management, training and mentoring (Headucation), talent attraction and building the 1000heads employer brand.

Create and implement company policies to provide a healthy, positive, engaged team and creative, transparent work culture. Ensure company values are lived by. To develop and deliver People management strategies aligned with the overall strategic aims and objectives of the business.


Responsibilities


  • Define and deliver on the People strategy for 1000heads while focusing on delivery of key business priorities
  • Provide a people-centric approach to deliver strategic and commercial results
  • Contribute at both a strategic and operational level in order to identify people & culture priorities and recommend appropriate management solutions which support business aims
  • Manage local HR team to ensure operational side of the business is running smoothly
  • Work with HRD and international HR team to contribute HR input to annual business planning


Leadership


  • Set the standard
  • Help steer the agency towards our goals
  • Help to deliver all priority internal projects
  • Mentorship and guidance to all junior heads who require or ask for support


Resourcing


  • Work with Talent Acquisition Manager to create and implement talent attraction strategy including systems and employer branding
  • Support hiring managers in recruitment
  • Ensure managers are trained in interviewing skills and diversity


Talent Management


  • Create and implement talent development plans and clear career strategy
  • Create and implement regular review cycles and align to talent management strategy


Employee Relations


  • Work closely with senior and line managers, providing them with expert guidance, coaching and support on the full range of People activities (including policies and procedures, terms and conditions of employment, absence management, restructuring of services, performance management) in order to ensure a consistent and fair approach to people management throughout all locations.
  • Keep up to date with legal developments and advise management on compliance and risk factors.
  • Manage investigations, disciplinary and grievance matters in conjunction with the MD.
  • Develop and maintain an effective partnership across the business ensuring consultation and communication practices are routinely adopted to enable management to make effective decisions and successfully implement best practise.
  • Ensure that employees are informed and updated on key business and organisational issues.


Learning and Development


  • Create and implement training and development plan with focus on the development of management skills for line managers
  • Be the ‘Headucation’ champion, create and manage process for success
  • In consultation with line managers, follow up individual development needs and source internal/ external training provision as and when required, monitoring training costs against budget


Compensation and Benefits


  • Gather and analyse market data to measure the competitiveness of 1000heads compensation and benefits package across each location and make recommendations as appropriate
  • Assist with the annual salary review process, as and when required


Other


  • Monitor People trends and provide management information on Key Performance Indicators to the Senior management team as appropriate
  • Contribute to the internal vision and goals of the business by participating in projects that benefit 1000heads as a company.
  • Any ad hoc duties as required by the company


Requirements


  • Commercial approach and experience in a start-up, fast-paced environment, ideally from within the marketing/media/digital sector
  • Agency experience would be highly desirable
  • Experience of leading the People function in a growing, evolving and creative business
  • Excellent track record of driving business performance
  • Experienced in delivering on talent management, leadership mentoring and training
  • Ability to implement business change programs and engagement initiatives
  • Proven HR generalist including the ability to work at both strategic and operational levels
  • Experience of enhancing and continue building an engaged, healthy, creative and positive team culture
  • Energetic and inspirational
  • Mentoring and training experience
  • Team player – flexible and challenging
  • Influencer with exceptional people skills, will evoke trust and team culture
  • Ability to work autonomously and flexibly
  • Outstanding interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Intrapreneurial, pro-active and self-motivated
  • Excellent planning and organisation skills
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office applications, email and the Internet
  • Proficient in the use of social media for business purposes
  • Strong knowledge of HR systems and some experience selecting and setting up new systems
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Must be able to attend the office 2-3 days per week


Qualifications required


  • HR related degree or equivalent accreditation
  • Sound experience as People/HR leader within a medium sized, in a dynamic, growing, start-up environment
