Job purpose / summary / objective

The HR Generalist position is responsible for administering the Human Resource functions of the business unit in partnership with the General Management and Human Resource department. The HR Generalist will be a trusted partner to implement HR tasks to help the business stay compliant and employees informed.

Responsibilities:

  • Become a trusted advisor to the greenhouse management teams on all people and culture matters
  • Act as the liaison between greenhouses and corporate office
  • Works on problems of diverse scope, requiring the analysis and consideration of multiple factors
  • Manage multiple functions, including benefits administration, employee relations, and regulatory compliance, training, and performance management.
  • Uses skills as an experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices and company policies and procedures; resolves a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways
  • Serves as a contact for employees in multiple business segments
  • Answers questions regarding policies and procedures and assists in resolving complex issues
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with all levels of personnel; act as a partner to hiring managers, providing coaching on interview best practices, and providing guidance through the hiring process
  • Partner with recruiter on talent acquisition related initiatives, and collaborate on improving current talent related processes.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Education: BA/BS degree required
  • Experience: 5-7 years of progressive HR experience in a Generalist role
  • Bilingual Spanish required
  • Hours: must be flexible. Mornings, Afternoons, and Nights.
  • Self-starter with a high sense of urgency, productive mindset and capability, and with the motivation to assume significant responsibilities as an HR Generalist
  • Ability to influence positively across organizational levels; strong communications and problem solving skills
  • Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization's hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors.
  • Ability to make appropriate decisions considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of state and federal employment/labor laws and practices.
  • Experience with full employee life cycle
  • Constructively evaluates current practices and offers innovative approaches for improvement
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

Physical requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
