The right candidate will want to use their unique talents in this domain to help better our company’s mission toward a greener, more sustainable future.This person will be the primary point-person for our most integral of remote employee communication and HR tools—the HRIS, Payroll, and Benefits Administration platform. As the first person in this role, you will hit the ground running by helping us implement our new in-house HRIS, Payroll, and Benefits Administration System. The ideal candidate will round out our amazing HR Team with their talent for details and data, while also showing care and having a customer-focused mindset toward their fellow employees. They will feel passionate about building the right processes from the ground up, and they will have a steadfast eye to details, accuracy, and best practices when it comes to HR data, payroll, and benefits administration. They enjoy getting to know their fellow employees and take pride in helping them with intimate and confidential questions regarding their compensation and benefits needs.We pride ourselves on our outstanding culture at IHI Terrasun, and this person will truly showcase our four core values in this role:• Innovation—By not always doing things the way they have always been done, but re-thinking our tools and improving processes instead.• Reliability—By making sure our employees receive their compensation and benefits on time and accurately, always.• Customer-Focus—By treating our employees like our customers, with respect, care, and a desire for mutual growth and success.• Solutions-Driven—By seeing when we need a solution, and driving progress effectively toward the best outcomes for a complex need.Primary Job FunctionsHRIS Platform Administration• Oversees and maintains optimal function of the HRIS, which may include installation, customization, development, maintenance, and upgrade to applications, systems, and modules.• Provides technical support, troubleshooting, and guidance to HRIS users.• Follows trends and developments in HRIS providers, vendors, and technology for optimal solutions and usage.Payroll Administration• Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.· Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.· Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.Benefits Administration• Serves as primary contact for plan carriers, vendors and third-party administrators.• Coordinates daily benefits processing. Handles enrollments, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, accident and death claims, rollovers, QDROs, QMCSOs, distributions, loans, hardships and compliance testing.• Surveys industry trends, surveys employees on benefits offerings for continuous improvement, analyzes complex benefits information from carriers, forecasts trends and assist with future benefits designs, and develop specific recommendations for review by management.• Provides customer service support to internal and external customers.Employee Communication & People Analytics• Designs and distributes communication for employees around all HR-related matters, and assists with internal communication to employees on company-wide HR initiatives and tools.• May guide and/or assist with performance, benefit, and compensation review and evaluation processes.• Based on metrics and analysis, makes recommendations for policies and activities to improve the organizational culture .Job Dimensions (skills, knowledge & abilities)• In-depth knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes• In-depth knowledge of benefits contracts, carrier relationships, and the administration of benefits• Rich understanding of HR compliance and the tools and processes needed for remaining compliant• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work with people of different backgrounds, knowledge, and job levels• Strong technical knowledge with at least one HRIS, Payroll, or Benefits technology tool• Ability to maintain strict confidentialityQualifications (Education & Work Experience)• Bachelors Degree preferred• 4-6 years’ experience in HR with at least 2 years’ experience administering payroll and benefitsTools & Equipment• General office equipment including phones and personal computerCertificates/Licenses• SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP Certification preferred (or the equivalent), or the desire to obtain certificationWork Environment & Physical Demands• We have an office in Chicago from which employees can choose to work, if preferred.• This job has been classified as remote, and the employee can be located anywhere in the United States.• Must be able to work from a computer or desk for prolonged periods of time.The national pay range for this role is $120,000 - $158,000 / year and is considered a Level P3 – Career Professional Individual Contributor role. This pay range may be slightly lower or higher based on the geographic location of the hired employee. The actual pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, and location. In addition to base salary, the total compensation package may also include participation in an annual discretionary bonus.
