Work for the IMF. Work for the World.

The Resource Management and Policy Coordination Division of the Institute for Capacity Development (ICDRM) is seeking to fill a contractual vacancy for the position of Project Analyst.

The Institute for Capacity Development (ICD) supports IMF member countries to build the institutions and capacity to formulate and implement sound economic and financial policies. ICD is responsible for capacity development (CD) delivery, including training and technical assistance, in macroeconomic and financial policy and for development and implementation of the Fund’s CD strategy.

ICDRM oversees the financial and administrative management of the department, including the development of the CD medium-term budget (MTB), medium-term workplan (MTW), and financing strategy. The division also coordinates the departmental policies, processes, and systems related to CD delivery, including (i) results-based management and CD performance, and (ii) implementation of the Capacity Development Management and Administration Program (CDMAP) within ICD.

Working closely with the management of ICDRM, and under the supervision of a seasoned technical assistance officer, the project analyst will support ICD’s management of CD plans, projects, and activities, and is expected to:

  • Contribute to the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the new organization and processes for centralizing basic data entries in the Fund-wide system for CD Management and Administration (CDMAP).
  • Develop expertise in CDMAP and planning and budgeting frameworks to support project managers in planning and costing activities.
  • Contribute to CD data quality control and review.
  • Train CDMAP users.
  • Contribute to CDMAP 2.0 user acceptance testing and implementation.
  • Undertake project management activities in thematic work areas as requested by ICDRM management.

Minimum qualifications

A combination of training and experience equivalent to completion of a secondary school education, supplemented by a minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience, is required.

Experience within a ministry, an international financial institution, an international organization, a development partner, a non-governmental organization, or a consulting firm related to (i) operation and budget management, (ii) fundraising and donor reporting, (iii) data management, and/or (iv) results-based management, is desirable.

This role requires:

  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with Fund staff and external contacts at all levels.
  • High level planning, organization, and multitasking skills—as well as the ability to prioritize assignments and tasks.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, and the capacity to quickly master planning, budgeting and reporting systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team, to be detail oriented, and to work under tight deadlines.

This is a one-year contractual appointment. Contractual appointments at the IMF are renewable for up to four years of cumulative contractual service, pending incumbent's performance, budget availability, and continuous business need.

Only candidates who are currently residing in the Washington DC metro area will be considered.
