The role:
We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and hands-on Medical Director (Director of Psychiatry) to lead the development, integration, and expansion of psychiatric and medical services within Intellect.

Reporting directly to the CEO, this role will focus on driving excellence in psychiatric care, advancing medical innovations, and ensuring the delivery of scalable, culturally relevant mental healthcare solutions.

In addition to strategic responsibilities, this role will also involve direct patient care, providing hands-on insights to refine services and uphold clinical excellence. The Medical Director will play a pivotal role in advancing our vision to be the world leader in hyper-local mental healthcare and a world-class integrated mental healthcare system.

Medical leadership and strategy:

  • Lead the expansion of psychiatric and medical services, ensuring alignment with the company’s vision and growth objectives
  • Define and oversee medical standards, protocols, and clinical governance for psychiatric and integrated care services
  • Develop strategies to integrate psychiatric care with preventive and primary mental health services, creating a seamless and scalable system

Service expansion and development:

  • Drive the development of new psychiatric and medical service offerings, including medication management, telepsychiatry, and crisis intervention programs
  • Identify and implement solutions to adapt psychiatric services to local markets, ensuring cultural and regulatory relevance
  • Build the relevant teams, facilities, and resources to enable service launch and delivery
  • Collaborate with internal teams to design and pilot innovative care models that incorporate psychopharmacology and evidence-based psychiatric practices

Clinical quality and governance:

  • Oversee the quality and safety of all medical and psychiatric services, ensuring adherence to evidence-based practices and compliance with local regulations
  • Develop and implement protocols for managing psychiatric medications, addressing complex cases, and ensuring continuity of care
  • Monitor clinical outcomes and use data-driven insights to refine and optimise service delivery

Practice and patient care:

  • Provide direct psychiatric care on a limited basis to gain practical insights, enhance service quality, and maintain clinical expertise
  • Offer consultation for complex or escalated cases, ensuring the highest standard of patient care
  • Use hands-on experience to inform the development and improvement of clinical models and frameworks

Innovation and integration:

  • Lead the integration of psychiatric expertise into tech-enabled solutions, enhancing scalability and accessibility of care
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed medical and psychiatric frameworks into product and service design
  • Identify opportunities for research and development in psychiatric care to enhance the organisation’s clinical offerings and thought leadership

Stakeholder engagement:

  • Represent the organisation in discussions with insurers, payers, and regulatory bodies to advocate for and expand psychiatric and medical services
  • Build partnerships with external stakeholders, including healthcare providers, researchers, and industry leaders, to strengthen the company’s clinical capabilities
  • Engage with enterprise clients to design and implement tailored psychiatric care frameworks that meet their organisational needs

Cross-functional collaboration:

  • Work closely with internal teams to align psychiatric services with broader clinical, operational, and business objectives
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to clinicians and team members on the implementation of psychiatric and medical care models
  • Education:
    • MD or equivalent degree with specialisation in Psychiatry, board certification preferred
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 7-10 years of clinical experience in psychiatry, leadership roles in mental health or integrated care systems is not required but would be a bonus
    • Proven expertise in psychopharmacology and expanding medical and psychiatric services
  • Skills:
    • Strong strategic and operational skills to drive service expansion and clinical excellence
    • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities to engage diverse internal and external stakeholders
    • Demonstrated ability to innovate and implement scalable healthcare solutions
