Position Summary:

The Intellectual Property Clerk I provides administrative support to the IP Prosecution, Transactions & Strategy practice group attorneys and support staff. This position assists with departmental file organization and maintenance as well as basic document creation. The Intellectual Property Clerk I works under immediate supervision and relies on instructions and pre-existing guidelines to perform the essential functions of the job.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare time sensitive client reporting letters for various U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) submissions
  • Assist with the foreign associate invoice intake process including scanning and saving files to the Firm’s document management system (DMS)
  • Collaborate with IP Specialists and the Information Governance department to open new client matters
  • Maintain client folders within the DMS including uploading, organizing and archiving documents
  • Download patent materials from the USPTO and compile client document files
  • Review various USPTO communications for accuracy
  • Upload/download patent-related documents, correspondence, and data to and from client systems
  • Scan incoming notices and correspondence, saving and/or archiving in designated folders

Job Specifications:

  • High school diploma
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to learn new concepts and skills quickly

Expected Pay Range in New York $51,000 – 63,000

Expected Pay Range in Los Angeles & Orange County $47,000 – 58,000

Expected Pay Range in San Francisco & Silicon Valley $53,000 – 66,000

Please note that quoted salary ranges are not guarantees of what final salary offers may be. Base pay is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay is only one part of the Total Rewards that MWE provides to compensate and recognize our staff professionals for their work. Full time positions are eligible for a discretionary bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.
