The ShopHeart internship offers individuals work experience in the growing field of ecommerce. In supporting the online store for the American Heart Association, our intern will get hands-on experience helping select product collections and designs, developing email marketing campaigns and website management on the Shopify platform.
The American Heart Association’s Internship Program provides college students an opportunity for hands-on experience in various facets for individuals interested in gaining work experience with a non-profit, voluntary health organization.
Individuals will obtain practical experience and receive hands-on training in various disciplines, to include volunteer recruitment/management, community event planning and management, public health research, community partner networking/connection, and program development/implementation.

Internship Outcomes:
Individuals participating in the internship program are provided with an opportunity to:

Gain important and practical job skills to be successful in an ecommerce and/or non-profit environment.

Get hands-on experience in developing direct marketing campaigns to over 80,000 subscribers.

Opportunity to explore a career-path with a reputable voluntary health/service organization.

Complete an internship that enriches your academic and professional resume as well as enriching your personal life by making a difference in the lives of others.
Responsibilities:
Tasks could include things like the following:

Researching fashion trends to inform 2024 product collection design development.
-
Contributing to the review, refinement and finalization of designs and product collections.
-
Ensuring professional marketing and shop presence by reviewing and proofing marketing materials, product descriptions and online store overall.

Potential to create email marketing campaigns and/or set up products (product images, descriptions, pricing etc.) within our Shopify environment (dependent on qualifications).

Working with vendors that support the store (customer service, product development, warehousing and fulfillment).
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated excellence in written communications skills, with high attention to detail (grammar, spelling, punctuation).

Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment managing multiple priorities involving multiple entities.
-
Strong project management skills to manage and hit deadlines while also proactively informing supervisor of expected delays.

Effective oral communication skills.
-
Desire to work hard and learn new skills.
- Willingness to take advantage of the opportunity to take some ownership, think strategically and identify potential solutions when encountering challenges.

Intermediate to excellent proficiency in MS Word, Canva and PowerPoint. Excel experience is a bonus.

Ability to deal professionally in a corporate environment.

Availability of 20 hrs./wk., M-F between the hours of 8:30am-5pm.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future. For any roles working remotely, the work must also be performed inside the United States, not in a foreign country.
