Job Description

This position is contingent upon award of contract.

This position will support the US Department of Veterans Affairs Critical Staffing Program.  The person in this position will represent International SOS and provide services outlined below: 

International SOS is looking for an individual who is an experienced Cardiology Ambulatory Care Registered Nurse to provide specialized nursing care to patients with cardiovascular conditions, focusing on assessment, education, and the management of chronic heart diseases. This role involves collaborating with cardiologists to develop and implement patient-centered care plans, ensuring optimal health outcomes through ongoing monitoring and support. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive cardiovascular assessments, including health histories, vital signs, and diagnostic tests interpretation. 
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with cardiologists, focusing on disease management and prevention strategies. 
  • Educate patients on heart health, medication management, lifestyle modifications, and self-monitoring techniques to promote adherence and understanding. 
  • Monitor and document patient responses to treatments and interventions, adjusting care plans as necessary to optimize health outcomes. 
  • Provide emotional support and counseling to patients coping with cardiovascular conditions and their implications on daily life. 
  • Coordinate referrals and follow-up appointments with other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care. 
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical research to advance best practices in cardiology nursing. 
  • Stay current with advancements in cardiology care and educate the healthcare team on new protocols and treatments as needed. 

Qualifications

Basic Requirements/Certifications:  

  • Three (3) years current outpatient experience required. 
  • Current, full, active and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e. Puerto Rico) of the U.S. or in the District of Columbia. 
  • National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) to obtain a nursing license. 
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. 

Education Required: 

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or  
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. 
  • Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time. 
  • May require bending, stooping and lifting up to 25 lbs. 

Other Special Qualifications: 

  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English to effectively communicate. 
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required. 
  • Pass/possess VA Public Trust Clearance. 

Additional Information

Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data. 

Compensation|  Min: $44hr        Max: $54hr
