Job Description

This position is contingent upon award of contract.

This position will support the US Department of Veterans Affairs Critical Staffing Program.  The person in this position will represent International SOS and provide services outlined below 

International SOS is looking for an individual who is an experienced Hepatology Ambulatory Care Registered Nurse to provide specialized nursing care for patients with liver diseases, facilitating assessments, administering treatments, and offering education on disease management and prevention strategies. This role involves coordinating care, monitoring patient progress, and fostering communication between patients and the healthcare team to ensure comprehensive management of liver health.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients with liver diseases, including obtaining medical histories and evaluating symptoms related to hepatic conditions. 
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments, such as antiviral therapies, while closely monitoring patient responses and potential side effects. 
  • Educate patients and their families about liver health, including disease management, dietary recommendations, and lifestyle modifications to support liver function. 
  • Collaborate with hepatologists and other healthcare professionals to create and implement individualized care plans tailored to each patient’s specific needs. 
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient care, including assessments, treatment administration, and follow-up recommendations, ensuring compliance with clinic policies and healthcare regulations. 
  • Assist in monitoring laboratory results and coordinating additional diagnostic tests, providing timely follow-up on patient status and treatment efficacy. 

Qualifications

Basic Requirements/Certifications:  

  • Three (3) years current outpatient experience required. 
  • Current, full, active and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e. Puerto Rico) of the U.S. or in the District of Columbia. 
  • National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) to obtain a nursing license. 
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. 

Education Required: 

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or  
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. 
  • Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time. 
  • May require bending, stooping and lifting up to 25 lbs. 

Other Special Qualifications: 

  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English to effectively communicate. 
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required. 
  • Pass/possess VA Public Trust Clearance. 

Additional Information

Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data. 

Compensation|  Min: $44hr        Max: $54hr
