Job Description

This position is contingent upon award of contract.

This position will support the US Department of Veterans Affairs Critical Staffing Program.  The person in this position will represent International SOS and provide services outlined below: 

International SOS is looking for an individual who is an experienced Nephrology Ambulatory Care Registered Nurse to provide specialized nursing care to patients with kidney-related conditions, focusing on assessment, management, and education related to chronic kidney disease, dialysis, and transplant care. This role emphasizes a patient-centered approach, collaborating with nephrologists and healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes and support individuals in managing their kidney health effectively. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients with kidney disease, including health histories, physical examinations, and laboratory results interpretation. 
  • Develop and implement personalized care plans in collaboration with nephrologists and healthcare teams to address patients’ specific needs and goals. 
  • Educate patients and their families about chronic kidney disease management, dietary modifications, medication adherence, and home monitoring techniques. 
  • Monitor patients' progress and responses to treatments, adjusting care plans as necessary to optimize renal health and prevent complications. 
  • Provide support for patients undergoing dialysis, including teaching about treatment options and assisting with access placement, if applicable. 
  • Coordinate referrals to specialists and ensure seamless transitions of care within the healthcare system. 
  • Document patient encounters accurately and maintain comprehensive medical records in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards. 
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to patient education programs to enhance awareness of kidney health and preventive strategies. 

Qualifications

Basic Requirements/Certifications:  

  • Three (3) years current outpatient experience required. 
  • Current, full, active and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e. Puerto Rico) of the U.S. or in the District of Columbia. 
  • National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) to obtain a nursing license. 
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. 

Education Required: 

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or  
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. 
  • Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time. 
  • May require bending, stooping and lifting up to 25 lbs. 

Other Special Qualifications: 

  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English to effectively communicate. 
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required. 
  • Pass/possess VA Public Trust Clearance. 

Additional Information

Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data. 

Compensation|  Min: $38hr        Max: $48hr 

Benefits – Full-time positions are eligible for our comprehensive and competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance.
