Job Description

This position is contingent upon award of contract.

This position will support the US Department of Veterans Affairs Critical Staffing Program.  The person in this position will represent International SOS and provide services outlined below: 

International SOS is looking for an individual who is an experienced Operating Room Nurse to circulate and scrub to ensure the smooth functioning of surgical procedures by managing the overall environment and providing direct patient care during operations. This dual role involves coordinating activities in the operating room, maintaining sterile techniques, preparing instruments, and anticipating the needs of the surgical team to enhance patient safety and surgical outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain the sterile field, ensuring that all surgical instruments and supplies are organized and ready for use. 
  • Circulate during surgical procedures by managing the operating room environment, coordinating with team members, and providing support as needed. 
  • Scrub in for surgeries by assisting the surgeon and surgical team directly, handling instruments, and ensuring adherence to sterile techniques. 
  • Monitor patient vital signs and conditions throughout surgery, communicating any changes to the surgical team. 
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical staff, including passing instruments and supplies in a timely manner. 
  • Maintain accurate documentation of surgical procedures, including counts of sponges, instruments, and any medications used. 
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care before, during, and after surgical procedures. 
  • Participate in pre-operative assessments and patient education, addressing any concerns prior to surgery. 

Qualifications

Basic Requirements/Certifications:  

  • Three (3) years current experience as an Operating Room Nurse. 
  • Current, full, active and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e. Puerto Rico) of the U.S. or in the District of Columbia. 
  • National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) to obtain a nursing license. 
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. 

Education Required: 

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or  
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. 
  • Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time. 
  • May require bending, stooping and lifting up to 25 lbs. 

Other Special Qualifications: 

  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English to effectively communicate. 
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required. 
  • Pass/possess VA Public Trust Clearance. 

Additional Information

Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data. 

Compensation|  Min: $47hr        Max: $52hr
