Job Description

AHRC NYC is seeking to hire an Employment Skills DSP for their Day Program in the Bronx.

Job TypeFull Time

ScheduleMonday to Friday, 9am-5pm

Pay Rate$17- $17.82 per hour based on education level plus an increase to $18 - $18.82 per hour after six months if in good standing. 

Responsibilities:

  • Work with participants by assisting them to learn and develop social skills, daily living skills and habits.
  • Responsible for doing pickups and drop offs of the people we support from their residences to the day programs..
  • Transport participants to appointments, social outings, and other activities.
  • Complete daily progress reports.

Qualifications

  • Personal and/or Professional experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred.
  • NYS Driver's License Required.
  • Experience working with or mentoring people to improve employment skills a plus
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in written form in English.
  • Reasonable flexibility in work hours and ability to respond to the scheduling needs of the individual.
  • Understanding of Person Centered Planning.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a working relationship with program participants, families, staff and community agencies.
  • High School diploma or GED is required.
