POSITION SUMMARY
The Investment Analyst will work closely with the investment team at the Grinnell College Investment Office (“GCIO”). GCIO is an eight-member team responsible for managing the $2.5 billion Grinnell College endowment. This individual will report to the Chief Investment Officer and act as a generalist, participating in work from all phases of the investment and operational functions across asset classes, including public and private markets. The Investment Analyst will take a support role in global field research, data analysis, and various aspects of due diligence used by GCIO to identify and evaluate new opportunities and monitor existing investments. Candidates should be able to manage multiple competing priorities and work well independently and as part of a team.
The Analyst position is intended to be a two‐year program with the potential for one additional year.

GCIO will support the Investment Analyst working towards earning the CFA and/or CAIA designation(s).
Key Responsibilities
  • Endowment & Portfolio Reporting, Operations Support: Support the preparation of materials for discussion with the investment committee (e.g., recommendations, strategic asset allocation)
  • Investment Analysis: Assist in due diligence, research, and ongoing monitoring of current and prospective investment managers
  • Network Development: Build relationships with colleagues at peer institutions
  • Ad Hoc Projects: Assist with producing white papers and thought pieces on various investment-related topics

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university
  • Less than six months relevant work experience
  • Demonstrated financial modeling ability, including expertise with Excel and other commonly used software platforms
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience planning and executing independent research projects in a timely and organized manner
  • Candidate must possess analytical and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to think critically and creatively
  • A high degree of intellect and integrity, professional, organized, and highly detailed oriented
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment, managing multiple assignments, and adjusting to meet shifting priorities
  • Has a collaborative, constructive, and positive approach to work; is proactive and curious
  • Ability to work well in a small team environment and comfortable sharing responsibility
  • Represent Grinnell College effectively while interacting with a multitude of constituents
