The Investment Team is responsible for defining and executing the investment strategy of Blenheim Chalcot, working to provide our portfolio companies with the financial support and investment services they need to thrive. The team is responsible for:
- monitoring and analysing our current portfolio of 20+ companies, with a further 5+ new ventures in incubation stage,
- managing funds on behalf of BC Founding Partners as well as external HNWI / Family Office investors and providing investment governance,
- supporting CEOs / CFOs and boards of portfolio companies with strategy, fundraising, M&A, and debt refinancing,
- leading on marketplace engagement and investor relations, as well as
- supporting the incubation of our next generation of ventures.
Portfolio Monitoring & Strategy:
- Be part of the investment team working to assess our ventures' performance
- Attend and learn to lead monthly monitoring meetings with portfolio company CEOs / CFOs
- Produce Investment Committee papers on prospective investment opportunities across the These papers include reviews of a company's progress, strategy, financial performance, market trends and competition, as well as analysis of the investment opportunity
- Help produce our quarterly portfolio report covering portfolio company performance, strategic considerations, helping refine BC's overall investment strategy
- Support our portfolio companies on fundraising (primary and secondary), strategic partnerships
Investor Relations:
- Engage with current investors e.g. handling investor queries and requests
- Produce quarterly holding statements and bi-annual reports and presentations for our HNW fund investors on the performance of their investment
- Maintain records in our central investment platform (Dynamo), which contains all our equity and debt investment data, as well as our investor portal
ABOUT YOU
The ideal candidate will have a data-driven mindset with strong attention to detail and the ability to identify trends and anomalies. You should also be comfortable working in a fast-moving business.
The ideal candidate
- Minimum of 2-3 years professional experience in an analytical role
- Excellent communication, written and people skills
- Strong Excel skills and structured thinking, with the ability to relay complex ideas clearly and simply
- Highly proactive and willing to take ownership of tasks, with strong organisational ability
- Good understanding of key company financial information
- Interest in innovation and high-growth technology companies, with the desire and ability to quickly learn new things in a fast-evolving sector
- Interest in developing further technical and financial skills, and a desire to grow within the role and BC
The following would be beneficial but are not essential:
- Understanding of key start-up metrics such as recurring revenue, customer acquisition cost and lifetime value
- Experience in preparing investor materials
- Experience in financial modelling and analysis, such as DCF and comparables
- Understanding of the UK or global start-up ecosystem and landscape
- Experience in an analytical role at a VC / PE, or in a Transaction Services / M&A Advisory team at a Big 4 accountancy practice or a leading M&A advisory firm
- Financial qualification such as CFA or ACA / ACCA would be beneficial
