IT Specialist

This role will work heavily with the Ronald McDonald House Technology Services team to administer, manage and support the organization’s IT applications, infrastructure systems, and network support services. The ideal candidate will work hand-in-hand and report directly to the Technology Manager. The day-to-day of the IT Specialist will include administering our core applications, supporting our end-users and families, collaborating with our administrative, hospitality, and operational teams, and working occasionally on various innovative initiatives and special projects. Occasionally, the IT Specialist will be creating and updating internal documentation, developing reports of services, and training our end-users.

The salary range for this role will be 70K-85K. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 9 AM – 5 PM with some hybrid flexibility and weekends and nights as needed.

Role/Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the day-to-day to IT needs, computer and end-user setups
  • Provide technical assistance over phone, email, and our ticketing system from Guests and Staff
  • Supporting and maintaining Microsoft O365 Products and Azure environment
  • Owning the Onboarding process and end-to-end setup of new hires
  • Assisting with high-level projects to support IT operations and initiatives
  • Creating documentation, developing reports, and training users across platforms
  • Occasionally, Commuting and supporting family rooms across multiple locations in NYC

Qualifications & Competencies

  • 3 - 5 years administering and supporting Windows Server environments.
  • Basic networking, troubleshooting, and supporting Cisco topology.
  • 2 -3 years administering or managing MySQL Servers or other relational databases.
  • Basic understanding of python, Java, C++, or MYSQL, HTML, CSS, or PHP is a plus.
  • Excellent attention to detail, working independently or as a team.
  • Must be a self-start with problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Capable of multi-tasking and meeting tight deadlines
  • Some experience with Network Monitoring Systems or SIEM technologies.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Foster good vendor relationships.
  • Ability to adapt to new cultures and changes in systems and environments.
  • Excellent time management skills and customer service abilities.
  • Administering enterprise Microsoft applications and services.
  • Hands-on experience with Active Directory, group policies, and assigning permissions.
  • Administering and managing Print Services or Print Management solutions.
  • Some experience working in Microsoft Hyper-V or other virtual or cloud-based, PaaS, SaaS, and or IaaS environments.
  • Strong AWS experience is a plus.
  • Some experience maintaining or administering IIS or Apache Web Servers.
  • Creating PowerShell, Batch, and other scripts for automation.
  • Understanding Project Management, ITSM, and ITIL fundamentals.
  • Assist with developing KPIs and SLAs.

Work Environment

  • This job is located in the same facility where RMH-NY provides temporary accommodations to pediatric patients and their families while the patients are undergoing active medical treatment at area hospitals. For some RMH-NY guests, medical treatment may include radiation therapy. While radiation therapy is never administered at RMH-NY, there is the potential for some radioactive material to be present in guests who have undergone radiation therapy. Based on radiation measurements performed throughout RMH-NY, it is not expected that individuals working at RMH will receive radiation doses that would exceed the general public limit (100 millirem per year).
  • The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud. Noise levels often increase with families and children who have temporary residence in the building as well as guests and musical performers for special events as well as mechanical equipment
  • Some weekends and evening hours may be necessary for this job
