This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a strong background in biology or microbiology to leverage their skills in a challenging and rewarding environment. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of patent analysis, copyright law, and US Patent and Trademark laws. Furthermore, they will have a comprehensive knowledge of intellectual property law, patent strategy, patent litigation, and legal research. This role comes with an attractive benefits package and a competitive bonus structure.ResponsibilitiesAs a Permanent Patent Attorney, your responsibilities will include• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating patent applications and agreements related to biology and microbiology.• Providing legal advice and guidance on matters related to intellectual property law and patent strategy.• Conducting thorough patent analysis and legal research to support ongoing and potential litigation cases.• Collaborating with scientific and business teams to understand new innovations and assess their patentability.• Developing and implementing effective patent strategies to protect the company's intellectual property rights.• Representing the company in patent litigation cases, working closely with other members of the legal team to prepare strong defense strategies.• Keeping abreast of changes in US Patent and Trademark laws to ensure the company's patent practices remain compliant.• Providing training to staff on intellectual property rights and patent law to foster a culture of innovation within the company.QualificationsThe ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications• A Bachelor's degree in Biology or Microbiology is required. An advanced degree or Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school is preferred.• A minimum of 5 years of experience in patent law, preferably in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry.• Extensive knowledge of US Patent and Trademark laws, intellectual property law, and copyright law.• Proven experience in patent analysis, patent strategy development, and patent litigation.• Strong legal research skills with the ability to analyze complex legal and scientific documents.• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-legal personnel.• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.• Must be licensed to practice law in the state and registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.This is a fantastic opportunity to apply your biology and legal expertise in a dynamic and growing company.
