At Johnson & Johnson, we all belong.Under guidance of the supervisor the Associate Engineer will be assigned to a department and/or project to execute projects that increase process efficiencies, reduce cycle time, cost, and improve overall quality of execution. This role is intended as a part-time position, employee must work a minimum of 20 or more hours per week.Responsibilities• Performs basic duties primarily consisting of responsibilities to support Technical or Operations teams.• Documents records of assignments and results including documentation concerning materials, concepts, designs and processes.• Assists with the manufacturing phase of new production and material handling equipment.• Identifies safety issues in production facilities and control systems and provides support in their resolution.• Assists in basic industrial engineering processes to increase efficiency and yields in manufacturing.• Executes projects that increase process efficiencies, reduce cycle time, cost, and improve overall quality of execution within assigned department using project management methodologies (I.E. FPX).• Makes significant improvements in the assigned areas by using process excellence methodologies (Lean/Six Sigma).• Undertakes and successfully completes simple or basic project/product development tasks to include any of the following: writing and/or verifying specifications, maintaining product/process documentation, testing processes, equipment, raw materials and product, and validating equipment and processes.• May assist in creating concepts and designs/approaches for new products/processes/test methods.• Prepares standard reports/documentation to communicate results.• Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university, be in good academic standing and have completed at least three (3) years of studies. Intended graduation date between one (1) to three (3) years of hire.• At least two (2) years of prior full time, professional work experience is strongly preferred (Full time is equivalent to working 40 hours or more weekly, on a continuous basis).• Previous Operations, Business Excellence or Engineering (Technical Operations) entry level experience is required.• Excellent communication, interpersonal relation, and influencing skills is required.• Strong budgeting expenses and capital management skills is preferred.• Process Excellence Belt certification (Lean or Six Sigma) is preferred.• Knowledge and understanding of ERP and other (planning systems) is preferred.• Understanding of the Change Integration Process, and evidence of effective use of tools is preferred.• Verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish is required.• Proficiency in the use of MS Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Visio and Minitab knowledge is highly desirable.Johnson & Johnson is an Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Employer.
