As a Jr. Security Engineer, you’ll be partnering with other areas in Technology to architect, govern and operationalize enterprise information security initiatives and technologies. This includes maintaining expertise on all relevant systems and emerging technologies in an agile development environment. The Jr. Security engineer will work alongside and on pace with cloud, web, and mobile development teams. This position requires a deep technical expertise needed to understand IT engineering concepts and structure on the fly, as well as knowledge of the breadth of enterprise-wide IT architecture. In this role, the Jr. Information Security Engineer will stay abreast of emerging technologies, understand the security implications, tune in to enterprise initiatives and technical projects, and provide information security expertise in real time. This is a technical position best suited for a professional with exposure to software development and a background collaborating with multiple groups (product, project, business, architecture, and operational teams) across an organization to enable business goals by melding security into solutions. The ideal candidate would possess intellectual agility and the desire to use their own professional judgement to determine and ultimately fulfill the security needs of the organization independently and autonomously, as those needs arise and evolve.

Essential Functions:

  • Offer information security architecture guidance for IT infrastructure and application projects
  • Work with both technical and business teams for security requirements gathering
  • Provide guidance to teams on DevSecOps practices and work to integrate security into the development cycle with established gating and oversight parameters
  • Partner with Network team to provide oversight and ensure secure configuration of internal and external networks
  • Establish and socialize security standards for product development teams
  • Evaluate capabilities of security tools and engineer solutions to meet security requirements of the organizations
  • Conduct security reviews for 3rd party software providers and opine on integration technologies best suited for each provider
  • Propose and architect security solutions and configurations at all layers of tech stack and in various deployment models (on-prem, IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), with the goal of constructing a comprehensive defense-in-depth security posture
  • Research, evaluate and assist in implementing corporate infrastructure security solutions
  • Ensure the integrity and protection of networks, systems, and applications by technical enforcement of organizational security policies with an emphasis on cloud-based technologies
  • Work to continually improve the tools, processes, documentation, and systems utilized within the organization
  • Regularly collaborate with IT Compliance, Audit and Legal to remediate findings and mitigate risk
  • Assist with high-risk cybersecurity incident response as needed
  • Represent IT Security on CIRT calls as needed (rotational responsibility)
  • Ability to flex into specific functional security areas (such as IAM, network security, AppSec, etc.) in order to ensure a cohesive and holistic security posture

Required Experience:

  • At least 3 years of enterprise IT security engineering experience
  • Network security expertise
  • Expert knowledge of security configuration, solutions, technologies and industry benchmarks in functional security areas (IAM, Vuln Mgmt, Network Security, Privacy, etc.)
  • Conducting security reviews for 3rd party software providers
  • Implementing and integrating a wide variety of technologies at an enterprise-level
  • System patching and hardening experience
  • CISSP, SANS security certification, Azure or AWS certification or equivalent
  • Experience supporting and maintaining Windows environments
  • Experience with industry standard information security tools such as Antivirus, EDR, SIEM, cloud firewalls, etc.
  • Ability to explain security risk in business terms and articulate IT risk in the context of reward to business
  • Expert knowledge of O365 products
