Our Newfoundland and Labrador Operations are an integrated mining, milling, and processing operation. Nickel concentrate from the fly-in, fly-out Voisey's Bay operation is shipped to our state-of-art Long Harbour Processing Plant where it is refined into low-carbon and high-purity nickel rounds, cobalt rounds and copper cathodes.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking candidates for our Job Readiness Training Program (JRTP) to join our Mill, Mine and Warehouse departments in Voisey's Bay, NL. These are 9-month fixed term positions.

These positions are based at the Voisey's Bay mine site in Labrador, a fly-in fly-out operation. These positions are on a two week on, two week off rotation.

The Job Readiness Training Program is designed to introduce new employees to our Mill, Mine, and Warehouse departments while gaining experience in an industrial environment. After successful completion of the program, you will be qualified for an entry level position within one those departments.

In this position, you will:

  • Ensure knowledge of all safety policies and strictly adhere to them.
  • Become familiar with the safe work practices and standard operating procedures.
  • Perform pre-operational checks, and operate equipment according to standard operating procedures.
  • Monitor equipment and processes, and conduct troubleshooting activities when problems arise.
  • Perform housekeeping activities.
  • Complete training as required.
  • Participate in crew safety meetings.

About You

Must be an Innu Nation Member or a Nunatsiavut Beneficiary.

Education:

  • Minimum completion of Grade 10 secondary school for the Mine & Mill departments.
  • Minimum completion of Grade 12 secondary school for the Warehouse department.

Experience:

  • Successful completion of the Career Exposure 101 program at Voisey's Bay.
  • 6 months of industrial experience and/or heavy equipment operation would be considered an asset but is not required.

Skills:

  • Demonstrate concern for Safety, Health, and Environment.
  • Strong ability to work cooperatively within a team environment.
  • Demonstrate initiative and follow instructions.
  • Able to recognize hazards in an industrial workplace.
