Job Description

We are seeking an Associate/Plant Controller to join our Phoenix Management team as part of J.S. Held. This is a unique opportunity for an entrepreneurial, highly driven person with a well-rounded skill set to join the Global Strategic Advisory Practice team, whose responsibilities extend beyond those of traditional consulting roles. The ideal person for this role will need to not only have a strong grasp of operational finance, but also be flexible and a strategic thinker able to take on a variety of tasks. Within Phoenix Management, we are leaders in the boardroom, C-suite, and on the shop floor. Together, we are “in the room” to regularly interact with our clients at all levels to assess and address the real challenges and to develop solutions that solve complex problems facing our clients. We identify areas of opportunity across the operations landscape, develop improvement strategies, and convert that strategy into action to optimize performance.

The candidate will join an experienced and closely-knit team of operational and turnaround & restructuring professionals with deep experience in leading, planning and solving the most complex client situations.  The ideal candidate will possess 3-5 years of postgraduate experience in an operational finance role.    

The ideal candidate will possess a demonstrated track record with financial management, financial analysis, operations control and have in-plant operational experience. Additionally, we are seeking a candidate with some knowledge and experience in process improvement, supply chain, Lean and/or Six Sigma, and shop floor management. Responsibilities include financial modeling & management, review/analysis of large amount of data sets, budgeting and forecasting, cost control and optimization, operational support, internal control compliance, developing and implementing various business strategies for profitability improvement, mergers and acquisitions, restructuring, sales and business wind down.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, or a related field
  • 3-5 years of broad-based experience within a manufacturing or other industrial environment performing operational, financial management, or accounting support
  • Proven experience in cost accounting, budgeting, and financial analysis within a plant or manufacturing setting
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and operational metrics
  • Ability to work independently with general supervision
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle)
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills with solid communication capabilities and practices, both oral and written
  • Good project management skills
  • Experience with business intelligence tools and data analytics

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or other advanced degree
  • Related certifications
  • Cross experience in related fields
  • Additional knowledge, skills, or abilities

Physical and Mental Job Qualifications

  • Must be able to travel extensively to client sites
  • Must be able to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to analyze and interpret complex financial data
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
