About the Role:
Your role in the DevOps team will be to enable engineering teams to deliver faster with tooling and operational support, maintain the production infrastructure, support as well as discovering and implementing innovative solutions to our technology stack.
Here’s what the role involves:
- You’ll be a member of a small multi-functional team who are responsible for the management of all infrastructure at Findmypast.
- Designing and documenting tooling, including writing and reviewing code, to provide self-service tools to the wider engineering team.
- Working closely with engineering teams to reduce toil and increase speed of delivery.
- Participating in an on-call rotation alongside the engineers who build our production backend.
- Maintaining multiple Kubernetes clusters
You'll also learn and discover new things along the way. We allow all engineers time out each day to focus on learning new skills or improving existing ones. On top of this, once a week we dedicate our time to “True North” work, investigating practical ways we can optimise the way the team operates.

Requirements
About you:
Requirements:
- Have some experience with Linux and scripting (Bash).
- Experience with automation/configuration tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet or similar).
- Experience with alerting/monitoring systems like Prometheus, Grafana, Icinga.
- Desire to work in a highly collaborative environment.
- A drive to learn and improve existing skills.
Bonus points:
- Experience with container technologies, their configuration and management (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm).
- Demonstrable coding skills in at least one programming language, and a desire to pick up more. Most of our services are written in JavaScript.
- Experience with version control systems e.g., GitHub or similar.
- Experience with CI/CD tools e.g., TeamCity or similar

What to expect next:
Our interview process moves fast and is as follows:
- An initial call with a member of our People Team (30 mins).
- Depth of expertise interview with two of our Engineers (one hour) covering engineering practices, values and approaches as well as architectural design through to scalability.
