Our client is an iconic vehicle manufacture with a recognised brand which has been at the forefront of design and manufacture for many years. Their multi award-winning Design department is where every vehicle starts it journey. Whether its sketching initial concept ideas, creating scale clay models, developing the next generation of exterior, interior and CMF design or using CGI wizardry to produce stunning images and video, their small, diverse team are constantly shaping the future of the automotive industry. Housed in state-of-the- art facilities in both Gaydon, Warwickshire, our world class Design team create, quite simply, the most beautiful automotive art in the world.

JOB PURPOSE

The Digital artist who will join our expanding team will be proficient in creating outstanding digital assets to primarily support the requirements of the Q Department within the business. You will thrive in working as part of a unique team, bringing experience of creating high quality photo realistic stills. You’ll be knowledgeable in the techniques to prepare, create and deliver these assets for approval. Experience in customer/client meetings would be a benefit.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Build and maintain master vis files for all vehicle projects in development and existing production cars.

• Have good skills in Alias to adapt existing CAD for use in Q Bespoke projects

• Prepare easy to use VIS files for use in creating Q Customer images and animations.

• Show exceptional skills in Data prep, UV & texturing, lighting and rendering assets to a deadline.

• Carry out special projects as directed by management.

• Create, iterate and develop new Vis environments.

• A behavioral role model to the design Team and colleagues around the business.

• Proactive approach to work and group interaction.

MANAGEMENT BREADTH

The position is supervised, the individual is expected to work effectively to regular working hours on-site and to meet clear deadlines, managing their own workload and deliverables to a wider timing plan. There will be an expectation that the candidate can manage project deliverables themselves with minimal supervision. There is potential that this position may grow into people management responsibilities.

RELATIONSHIPS

Key Internal relationships include Design team, Q Department, CMF team, Directors of Design & other first line Design Directors. External relationships may include external suppliers, agencies collaborating on projects as well as any projects with Schools/colleges/universities.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE

Prior experience working in Automotive design is a requirement, 2 to 4 years minimum experience.

Detailed understanding of the automotive design process with experience working through creative concept phase as well as production delivery phase.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

Luxury brand and/or major OEM experience would be beneficial, but all experience considered.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS

Educated to degree level or equivalent related discipline, with relevant experience.

English language to a professional working level.

PREFERRED EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS

Experience working in a cross functional environment and adjusts well to changing circumstances, working well in a busy, deadline-driven dynamic environment

REQUIRED SKILLS

• Good knowledge of Alias

• Good knowledge with V-Red Design / Pro and VR

• Good knowledge with Adobe Suite

• Microsoft office software suite

• The candidate will have a positive, highly flexible and adaptable mindset, able to cope with occasional periods of short deadlines and high workload

• Presentation and communication skills essential

• 3D modelling skills a bonus

• Unreal, Maya & Vray and Blender familiarity/ experience would be beneficial
