Sr. Integration & Test Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Integration & Test Engineer to lead the testing and integration efforts for our advanced systems and products. In this critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring that our solutions meet rigorous quality standards while seamlessly integrating with other systems. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented engineer with strong analytical skills and comprehensive experience in systems integration and software testing.

Responsibilities:

Requirements & Test Planning:

• Analyze product requirements and specifications to create comprehensive test strategies.
• Develop detailed test plans, defining scope, objectives, resources, and timelines.
• Provide technical input into project documentation, including functional and technical specifications.

Test Design & Development:

• Design tests tailored for web and mobile applications, enterprise tools, backend systems, and third-party integrations.
• Create step-by-step test procedures outlining the precise actions and expected results for each test case, ensuring consistent and accurate test execution.
• Develop detailed test cases, covering diverse scenarios and use cases to verify software functionality and usability.
• Maintain full traceability by mapping test cases to specific requirements with clear pass/fail criteria.

Quality Assurance & Testing:

• Own the end-to-end testing process, ensuring software quality across all functional, performance, and security aspects.
• Conduct functional, integration, regression, performance, and security testing to identify and resolve issues.
• Proactively troubleshoot system interoperability, performance bottlenecks, and stability concerns.
• Perform load and stress testing to evaluate system scalability and resilience.

Test Automation & CI/CD:

• Architect, develop, and maintain robust automated testing frameworks, ensuring their long-term stability, scalability, and adaptability to evolving testing needs.
• Implement and integrate automated tests and test frameworks into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing and accelerate the release process.
• Leverage automation technologies (e.g., Selenium, Python) to improve testing efficiency, increase coverage, and accelerate release cycles.

Software Integration:

• Support the integration of software components within complex systems, ensuring seamless functionality and data flow.
• Identify and address integration challenges, including compatibility issues, data inconsistencies, and performance bottlenecks.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of integration processes, configurations, and dependencies for future reference and troubleshooting.

Defect Management & Resolution:

• Identify, analyze, and document software defects and inconsistencies.
• Log and track defects using bug tracking systems and ensure timely resolution.
• Analyze test results to identify trends and recommend improvements.

 Reporting & Collaboration:

• Generate comprehensive test reports, summarizing results, defects, and product quality.
• Provide clear documentation of test results, bug reports, and technical feedback to stakeholders.
• Participate in project planning, sprint reviews, and meetings to ensure alignment on testing deliverables and schedules.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define test strategies, facilitate integration, and deliver high-quality software.

Process Improvement & Mentorship:

• Continuously refine testing methodologies and processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot complex integration and test issues, suggesting improvements to system designs and testing strategies to optimize software quality.
• Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers, sharing best practices and expertise.
• Stay current with the latest testing methodologies, technologies, and industry trends.

Location: Hybrid in McLean, VA

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
• 7+ years of experience in software integration and test, quality assurance, or similar
• Proven expertise in designing, developing, and executing test cases for various software applications, including web, mobile, and backend systems.
• Strong understanding of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) and testing methodologies (e.g., black-box, white-box, regression, performance).
• Experience with cloud-based testing environments (e.g., AWS, Azure).
• Proficiency in test automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Appium, pytest, JUnit).
• Experience with CI/CD tools and building automated test pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
• Solid understanding of API testing and tools (e.g., Postman, AWS Lambda).
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and defect tracking tools (e.g., Jira).
• Experience with performance and load testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineers and foster a collaborative testing environment.

Preferred Skills:

• Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with security testing and vulnerability analysis.
• Contributions to open-source testing projects or communities.
• ISTQB or other relevant certifications.

Clearance:

• US Citizenship required; the ability to obtain a security clearance may be required.
