So What’s the Role?

As Kin continues to grow a new and exciting Agency division, we are looking for an experienced and strategic-thinking personal lines Carrier Relations Manager to be a key player in our Agency. The focus will be to build upon the strong Carrier relationships we have, as well as adding new partners to fuel our growth. Carrier Relations is critical to our success, as we rely on our appointments to serve our customers. Reporting to the General Manager, you’ll spearhead all Carrier-related projects, day-to-day management of the relationships and partner with Sales to ensure we are meeting each Carrier’s preferences and compliance needs. 

A day in the life could include: 

  • Defining the Carrier Relations strategy, setting the vision and roadmap for how we expand existing Carrier partnerships and adding new Carriers to the portfolio

  • Negotiating and securing access to a competitive product portfolio and competitive contract terms

  • Monitoring contract performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations

  • Building and maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with Carriers, acting as the primary point of contact for Carrier communication and negotiations

  • Defining clear objectives and success metrics for our Carrier partnerships

  • Running monthly calls and annual business reviews with Carriers

  • Working with internal stakeholders to ensure we are upholding our commitments to partners

  • Acting as subject matter expert on industry trends, market dynamics, and competitive activities to identify growth opportunities, potential risks, and areas for improvement in Carrier relations

  • Updating the Carrier Matrix so that our Sales/Service Teams are up to date on our partner’s appetites/restrictions/guidelines, etc. 

I’ve got the skills… but do I have the necessary ones?

  • 5+ years of progressive, personal lines experience in carrier relationship management

  • Active P&C Insurance License in resident state or required to obtain this in the first 30 days of employment

  • Proven track record of successfully cultivating and managing Carrier relationships

  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, including contract management experience

  • Excels collaborating cross-functionally with senior internal stakeholders

  • Ability to understand and take action based on data trends

  • Attention to detail with good organizational capabilities

  • Must possess a high aptitude for problem solving, be able to assess problems, research alternatives and pursue acceptable solutions while remaining within company guidelines

  • Proficient use of Google Suite is essential (i.e. Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Gmail, etc.)
