Public Health - Seattle & King County is seeking a Patient Service Representative (Administrative Specialist II "AS II") to join a vibrant, multi-disciplinary, and diverse team at our Federal Way and Midway public health centers, to deliver health services to the county's most vulnerable people. The Patient Service Representative will support the First Steps (Maternity Support Services/Infant Case Management) and Sexual & Reproductive Health (SRH) programs.The First Steps program provides services to families during pregnancy, infancy, and early childhood. The programs function as a multidisciplinary team comprised of Nutrition Assistants, Dietitians, Public Health Nurses, a Community Health Worker, and a Social Worker. These programs provide food, nutrition education, case management, referrals, and service linkages to some of our most vulnerable populations in order to improve pregnancy, birth, and early childhood health outcomes.The SRH program is a nationally recognized provider of sexual and reproductive health services, including birth control, pregnancy testing with options counseling and referrals, sexually transmitted infection services, and breast and cervical cancer screenings. We offer high quality, confidential care to all members of our community regardless of ability to pay. Our clients are culturally, socially, and linguistically diverse.The Administrative Specialist (ASII) is a frontline staff who interacts with customers to address their needs, ensure they have health insurance, schedule appointments, and/or provide information about the First Steps program and King County Public Health services. Additionally, this position collaborates and coordinates with nurses, social workers, nutritionists, interpreters, and other ASIIs to deliver preventative health services to Medicaid-eligible and qualifying pregnant and post-pregnant individuals, infants, and their families from a broad range of cultures, communities, backgrounds, and experiences.This position supports and advances the Community Health Services Division's values for fair and culturally competent service delivery; innovative, effective, and efficient application of resources; and a culture of performance, expanding opportunities to seek input, listen, and respond to clients.Community Health Services assures the provision of clinical health care services in King County through policy and planning work with partners and through the direct provision of clinical services. Workdays and hours will vary based on business needs. Currently 8:00-5:00 Monday - Friday with some Saturdays or evening hours to meet client/business needs.Work Location Federal Way Public Health Center (33431 13th Pl S, Federal Way, WA 98003), HealthPoint Midway (26401 Pacific Hwy S, Des Moines, WA 98198) and Auburn Public Health Center (901 Auburn Way N, Auburn, WA 98002) are the primary work locations. The candidate may work at various King County Public Health Centers and satellite offices based on business need and must have the ability to travel to sites throughout King County. On occasion, travel between sites may be required on the same day. A County vehicle may be available for use.The Patient Services Representatives are the initial contact a client has when they come into or call a Public Health Center. Responsibilities include:• Welcoming all clients, providing exceptional customer service, which includes treating all people with respect and warmth• Utilizing language interpreters when appropriate to meet clients' needs• Identifying when triage by a healthcare professional is necessary, and quickly identifying potential emergency situations• Registering clients, requesting financial and insurance information, verifying insurance coverage, calculating fees, collecting payments, and scheduling appointments• Coordinating patient and information flow while maintaining patient confidentiality, and complying with Federal HIPAA lawsDuring and after client visits, responsibilities include:• Accurately completing documentation and data information for billing in a timely fashion• Processing referrals for field staff• Making appointment reminder and outreach phone calls, making copies, faxing, and other general office and clerical duties• Other duties include using a variety of computer programs including:• Epic (an electronic health record program)• Microsoft Office productsOur ideal candidate will demonstrate the following (Minimum):• Commit to providing exceptional customer service with compassion and patience, are approachable, are effective listeners, and will enjoy working with people from a variety of cultures, communities, backgrounds, and experiences.
