The Finance team at Kraken is a group of specialists charged with managing the firm’s liquidity, capital and risk, and providing the overall financial controls and reporting functions for executive decision making, compliance, and audit readiness. Our work contributes directly to Kraken’s success.
The Platform Accounting team is an integral part of the Finance organization responsible for financial accounting and reporting on a variety of trading products and transactions including fiat, digital assets, futures, margin, options and other new company initiatives. In addition, the Platform Accounting team oversees Over-the-Counter (“OTC”) operations, serving Kraken’s high-networth individuals and financial institutional clients. The Platform Accounting team is a dynamic organization at the forefront of building best in class accounting processes and infrastructure to support Kraken’s mission in the crypto industry.The team is highly motivated and passionate about excellence in financial reporting and continuously strives for improvement. We are seeking a Senior Accounting Manager on Revenue Reporting, who will work closely with your Finance and Accounting leadership business partners to plan, implement, improve, automate, test, and ensure the Platform Accounting team provides complete and accurate financial records and reports for management, improves the quality of our financial statements, and boosts our audit readiness. Join an elite Finance team to drive improvements and automation for all internal processes.
The Senior Manager of Revenue Reporting will lead the revenue reporting and audit functions within the Platform Accounting team. The role manages the accurate and timely reporting of revenue, ensuring compliance with GAAP and company policy, and collaborates with cross-function teams, such as Data Engineer, Finance Transformation, Treasury and Regulatory Legal, to analyze financial data.
Liaise with internal and external auditors to support the audit process, providing necessary documentation and explanations, with concentration on revenue and transaction related functions
Respond to financial and regulatory reporting requests by providing accurate and timely financial and operational information in accordance with company policy and US GAAP
Work closely with other departments (e.g. Tax, Treasury, Data Engineer and Finance Transformation) to gather necessary information and ensure alignment in financial reporting
Identify opportunities for process improvements in data gathering and reporting, including the use of technology and automation
Lead initiatives to streamline reporting processes and reduce the time required to financial close
Serve as a key point of contact for senior management on revenue reporting matters
Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a closely related field required
Minimum of 7-10 year of experience in financial and/or regulatory reporting
Working experience from the Big 4 or national accounting firms and/or industry, preferred in Financial Services, Fintech, broker-dealer, banking or exchange
Working knowledge with SEC and regulatory reporting preferred
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
Strong knowledge of US GAAP and ASC 606
Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders
Collaborative, innovative, flexible, and adept at building relationships across the organization
Ability to handle and lead multiple projects and deliverables in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Microsoft Excel proficiency including pivot tables, H- & V-Lookup
CPA in good standing
Experience with high volume transactions
Experience using an ERP system such as Netsuite, SAP
Experience or knowledge with cryptocurrency
