Laboratory Animal Technologist (NHP)

Job Summary

The NHP Lab Technologist acts as Processing Team Leader, to collect, process, pack and ship biological samples needed for client requested biospecimens or pre-screening of animals for future shipments. Coordinate and/or perform supply preparation and sample collection procedures in order to ensure an efficient process and timely delivery of shipments to meet customer requests. Responsible for laboratory animal care. Must communicate and work closely with other team members, including the Veterinarian(s), Veterinarian Technicians, and other senior level Technicians with a focus on ensuring the efficient operation of the Lab in completing tests and associated documentation to ensure timely completion of all customer requests and requirements for animal shipment.

Responsibilities include:

Perform tasks and be familiar with the regulations associated with the receipt of animals into quarantine, transfer, distribution, and processing of animals

Perform and be proficient in basic technical skills (i.e. treatments, collection of biological samples, TB tests, etc.)

Must have demonstrated ability to perform independently and work cooperatively with a team

The pay range for this position is $25-$28/hr. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.

Job Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.).

Experience: 5-6 years related experience in a laboratory animal facility with AALAS ALAT certification, or

4-5 years’ experience in a laboratory animal facility with AALAS LAT certification, or

3-4 years’ experience in a laboratory animal facility with AALAS LATG certification, or Veterinary Technician (CVT or VTNE).

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.

NHP experience strongly preferred.
