Landscape Technician

$17.00 per hour; Monday through Friday; 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Must have valid driver's license

Responsibilities

Measurement Incorporated’s (MI) Landscape Technician will be responsible for maintaining and updating MI’s outdoor grounds and campuses and will be expected to perform a variety of tasks including but limited to the following:

  • Reporting to the Facilities Manager who is responsible for the direction of the MI Landscape Department
  • Mowing, trimming, planting, watering, fertilizing, digging, and raking
  • Applying herbicides and fertilizers following proper company and manufacturer safety guidelines, processes, and procedures
  • Installing, maintaining, and updating landscape designs by planting, transplanting, and pruning to maintain proper shape through the use of loppers, shears, bow saws, hand pruners, and other maintenance tools and equipment
  • Operating leaf collection equipment, mowers, landscape maintenance equipment, hand tools, and standard industry tools and equipment
  • Removal and upkeep of MI grounds and lots through trash and debris removal
  • Storm damage and hazard prevention and removal of snow, ice, and other storm debris
  • Working with a variety of industry concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Using extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals and projects
  • Performing a variety of complex tasks requiring a wide degree of creativity and latitude
  • Following all established company and safety processes and procedures when using company vehicle, machinery, and equipment
  • Following company and industry safety procedures and documentation for hazardous products and materials
  • Maintains Landscape shop in a clean, safe and secure manner.
  • Attending education programs, workshops, and training programs applicable to the Landscape Technician I job responsibilities and duties
  • Working with the Facilities Manager and other Landscape Department employees to continually improve the level of service provided by the MI Landscape Department
  • Working with the Maintenance Department as needed on special projects or emergency events.

Requirements

Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and be able to perform general physical activities that require use of industry standard equipment such as ladders, climbing, lifting, walking, stooping, and handling/ loading/ unloading of materials. Additionally, MI Landscape Technicians must be able to move and lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds consistently and repeatedly. The position’s essential functions will require working outside in all weather conditions doing physical labor. Candidates must be able to read, write, comprehend written and verbal work instructions, and be able to communicate professionally.
