Construction Safety Manager (EM 385 Certified)

Job Summary:


We are seeking a highly skilled and certified Construction Safety Manager with expertise in safety management on large construction projects, and specific experience with EM 385 safety standards. The Construction Safety Manager will oversee safety programs and ensure compliance with both federal and contract-specific regulations, focusing on creating and maintaining a safe work environment. This position requires a thorough understanding of EM 385-1-1, OSHA regulations, and best practices in construction safety. The ideal candidate will bring a proactive approach to managing site safety and possess strong leadership abilities.


Responsibilities:
  • Safety Program Management:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the project-specific safety program, ensuring compliance with EM 385-1-1 (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Safety and Health Requirements Manual) and OSHA standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments and site inspections to identify and mitigate safety hazards on construction sites.
  • Work closely with project management teams, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to promote a culture of safety and ensure compliance across all phases of construction.
  • Safety Compliance & Documentation:
  • Ensure that all employees, contractors, and subcontractors comply with federal, state, and contract-specific safety regulations.
  • Prepare and maintain required safety documentation, including Accident Prevention Plans (APP), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHA), and safety audits.
  • Report, investigate, and document any incidents, accidents, near-misses, or unsafe conditions and recommend corrective actions.
  • Training & Development:
  • Provide ongoing safety training to employees, contractors, and subcontractors, including site-specific orientations, toolbox talks, and specialized training in high-risk areas (e.g., fall protection, confined space entry).
  • Ensure that all personnel are adequately trained and certified according to EM 385 and other relevant safety standards.
  • Inspections & Audits:
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of the construction site, tools, and equipment to identify hazards and ensure all safety measures are being adhered to.
  • Prepare reports based on safety inspections and recommend improvements or corrective actions.
  • Emergency Response & Preparedness:
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures for the construction site.
  • Lead emergency drills and ensure that all staff are trained in emergency procedures, first aid, and injury reporting.
