Job Title: Controller

Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to join our team. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in financial management within a non-profit organization. This role is critical in overseeing our financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic alignment with our mission. The Controller will play a key role in budgeting, financial reporting, audit preparation, and maintaining the integrity of our financial systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management: Oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
Accounting Operations: Manage day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
Compliance and Audit: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. Lead the preparation for annual audits and liaise with external auditors.
Grant Management: Oversee the financial management of grants, including tracking expenditures, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with grant requirements.
Strategic Planning: Partner with the CFO and executive team to develop and implement financial strategies that support the organization’s goals.
Team Leadership: Manage and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
Financial Analysis: Provide detailed financial analysis and recommendations to support decision-making and drive organizational performance.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in financial management, with at least 3 years in a non-profit organization.
Skills: Strong knowledge of non-profit accounting standards, GAAP, and financial management systems. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct) and advanced Excel skills.
Leadership: Proven ability to lead and develop a finance team in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience managing finances for multiple funding streams, including grants and donor contributions.
Familiarity with non-profit tax filings and reporting requirements.
