Lead Packaging Machine Operator

We are seeking to hire for a Lead Packaging Machine Operator (Lead PMO) position at our manufacturing plant site in Bessemer City, North Carolina. The candidate will work on our 2nd shift. This position is responsible for leading and directing the daily operations of the Process Machine Operators (PMOs) to ensure production standards are met while producing Safe, Quality Food.


2nd Shift: Monday through Saturday 4:00pm-Close | $22.84/hr. - $24.51/hr.

  • Close time for 2nd shift can vary from 12:00am-3:00am.

  • Leads 5-10 hourly employees
  • Conduct daily required inspection to ensure equipment and environment is in safe operating condition
  • Lead and direct Hayssen packaging and scale equipment operators
  • Assist as needed to ensure set-ups, shut downs, and adjust control settings and logics are correct and efficiently accomplished
  • Solve problems relating to specifications for packaging quality, weights, fills, seals, and film runs
  • Ensure quality checks, product and film changeovers, mechanical adjustments, and required paperwork for PMO’s is accurate, complete, and timely
  • Assist trim, dryer, packaging leads to ensure productivity accuracy and efficiency
  • Keep abreast of production schedule attainment and sequencing
  • Report under and over proportions by product as required
  • Monitor breaks and lunches
  • Train employees to meet operating procedures and packaging standards
  • Conduct tailgates and lead exercise routines at shift start each day
  • Any and all other duties assigned by your Supervisor
  • Ability to work overtime as needed. Some weekends are required.

Required Skills
  • SKILLS: Qualified candidate will have excellent computer and math skills (i.e., Excel, Word, and Windows Applications) and be a good listener, and verbal and written communicator. Must be able to lead and direct.

  • ADDITIONAL: Hands-on ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented food processing environment. Required to work independently and with limited supervision. Must be able to maintain regular and acceptable attendance, follow directions, interact well with co-workers, understand and follow posted work rules/ procedures.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Work is performed in a cold environment with an average temperature of 34 degrees Fahrenheit. Concentrated chlorine and concealed ammonia is present. Work surfaces and floors may be wet. Employees are required to wear approved shoes and protective equipment. Must be able to lift up to 10 lbs. unassisted up to 1/3 of the workday, and 6 lbs. overhead as job demands. Constant standing on a concrete floor, reaching, bending, stooping, and repetitive hand movements may be required. Moving machinery, including conveyor and forklifts are in operation in the immediate area.


Required Experience
  • EXPERIENCE: Knowledge of production processes is required. Previous experience in a food processing facility is desired.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

Must have HS Diploma, GED, or demonstrated ability to perform required tasks.
