Evaluation of outside supplier quotes, overseeing project engineers and software engineers, documentation, debug/tryout, and leading projects to completion within schedule and budget constraints; Lead the controls team through system concept, architecture, hardware, and software development based on line-up information from mechanical engineering and customers; Guarantee workability, completeness, and accuracy of all system designs; Ensure projects are executed using the ISO controls process across all projects; Ensure that designs are consistent for all projects; Participate in internal and external design reviews of deliverables as needed; Discuss with customers to resolve design related issues; Ensure that all designs meet either Fori or customer standards; Assure controls team fully documents and maintains engineering records for incorporation into engineering job book; Ability to work closely with mechanical engineering managers and manufacturing supervisors on all aspects of the project; Review and establish controls department standard practices and procedures as required to meet company objectives; Use controls hardware, pneumatic application, Rockwell PLC (RS Logix 5000, Factory Talk View, HMI Development or Siemens PLC ( ie. TIA portal PLC, Win CC HMI)), IEC 61131-3 programming language, and industrial communication protocols including Profinet and Ethernet/IP.
Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering and 3 years of experience as an automation and controls engineer or related. Must have 3 years of experience with controls hardware and pneumatic application; Rockwell PLCs (RS Logix 5000, FactoryTalk View HMI development) OR Siemens PLCs (Siemens TIA Portal (PLC and WinCC HMI)); IEC 61131-3 Programming Languages; Industrial communication protocols: ProfiNet and Ethernet/IP.
