We do this with a focus on performance, security, and reliability.As a member of this team, you will fill the mission-critical role of ensuring that our complex, web-scale systems are healthy, automated, redundant and designed to scale. You will use your background as a strong programmer with generalist operational knowledge to work on building the next generation of edge technologies from the early stages of design all the way through identifying and resolving production issues. This role offers a hybrid work option, meaning you can both work from home and commute to a LinkedIn office, depending on what’s best for you and when it is important for your team to be together.This role will be based in Sunnyvale, CA.Responsibilities:● Serve as a primary point responsible for the overall health, performance, and capacity of one or more of our Internet-facing services● Gain deep knowledge of our complex applications● Assist in the roll-out and ramp up of new product features and technologies to facilitate our rapid iteration and constant growth● Develop tools to improve our ability to rapidly deploy and effectively monitor custom applications in a large-scale Linux environment.● Function well in a fast-paced, rapidly-changing environment● Participate in a 24x7 rotation for second-tier escalationsBasic Qualifications:● B.S. or higher in Computer Science or other technical discipline, or related practical experience.● 2+ years experience with administration and troubleshooting of Unix/Linux systems● Programming skills in one or more of Rust, Go, Python, Perl, RubyPreferred Qualifications:● 5+ years in a UNIX-based large-scale web operations role.● Experience with .NET, C#, Android or iOS development.● Experience in building systems automation and server backends with Python● Experience with writing scalable programs in Rust/Go/Python● Previous experience working with geographically-distributed coworkers.● Strong interpersonal communication skills (including listening, speaking, and writing) and ability to work well in a diverse, team-focused environment with Developers, SREs, Network Engineers, Product Managers, etc.● Knowledge of most of these: data structures, relational and non-relational databases, networking, Linux internals, filesystems, web architecture, and related topics.Suggested Skills:● Knowledge of DNS, TCP, TLS, HTTP● Familiarity with reverse proxies and CDNs● Experience with Linux environments● Proficient in Python or Go● Ability to learn and adapt with unfamiliar technologiesLinkedIn is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices.The pay range for this role is [$121,000 to $198,000]. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.
