This role will focus on enhancing the skills and performance of our teams through hands-on training, and the development of strategic training initiatives for our distributed employee base. We have a mix of Remote, Hybrid and On-Site workers in locations such as Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, the UK and parts of Europe.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing effective training curricula, evaluating third-party training products, and managing their own profit and loss (P&L) for the business unit.

Hiring Team call 45 mins - High level introductions, from the Hiring Manager
then typically;
Presentation or Task prepared at home
Task Deep Dive with a panel 90 mins - This is where most of the magic happens.
Pre-Final 45 mins - meeting some peers and stakeholders

As a Learning and Development Specialist at M-KOPA Works, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing strategic and operational learning solutions across the organization.
Working closely with the Chief People Officer and Head of Employee Experience, the role will partner with C-Team and Senior Leadership Stakeholders in special projects related to staff development. This position requires a blend of strategic thinking and hands-on experience to drive the company's upskilling agenda and foster a culture of continuous learning.
Key Accountabilities
Conduct a company-wide learning needs analysis across functional departments
Build and communicate a company-wide learning philosophy and framework.
Develop and execute global and country-specific learning strategies
Design and deliver best-in-class learning solutions for all business units
Manage end-to-end deployment of localised learning programs
Oversee budget management and provide accurate reporting and insights
Develop and nurture a people management community and design capability interventions for this group.
Measure the impact and quality of learning initiatives through formal learning evaluation and reporting.
Design and deliver training programs and change management initiatives that support talent management and succession planning efforts
Lead the cultural and behavioural changes required to sustain performance improvement and to create a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
Drive the implementation of 70:20:10 training principle across the organization.
Requirements and Skills
Proven experience in L&D, preferably in a regulated business environment
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Proven experience delivering soft skill and leadership training on a variety of topics at all levels of the organization.
Excellent communication and influencing abilities
Strategic thinking and ability to translate data into actionable insights
Experience in early and emerging talent development
Proficiency in instructional design and e-learning authoring tools
Understanding of adult learning theory and various learning methodologies
Ability to work in a complex, matrix organization
International experience and cultural awareness
Willingness to travel up to 35% of the time
Qualifications
Degree in Instructional Design, Education, or related field
4-6 years of experience in instructional design or similar role
CIPD certification or equivalent training qualification (preferred)
