Job Summary: Sort, process and deliver all packages received in the Mail Center to local company offices. Must be able to solo lift to 50 lbs., load/unload pallets in/out of trucks. Associates are expected to perform and cross train within all duties and responsibilities of the mail center (including but not limited to driving fleet vehicles, shipping & receiving, including loading dock, organization, and inventory, following safety protocols, answering phones, and responding to emails and occasionally deployed to support to other local offices/campus buildings) as indicated and instructed by their site manager.
Responsibilities:
Shipping & Receiving:
- Inspect and process all inbound/outbound mail and packages
- Process Hazmat shipments as indicated by FAA & IATA regulations
- Scan and record all inbound/outbound packages using provided software
- Manage supplies and mail center inventory
- Maintain a clean work area that promotes safety and professionalism
- Monitor postage usage and refill postage meter as needed
- Maintain employee database and mail lists as needed
- Work flexible shifts when required
- Participate and contribute to all safety and security training and meetings
Operating Vans:
- Drive company vehicles to transport parcels to specified locations/established route
- Ability to obey local and state driving laws
- Load and unload materials in designated locations for processing
- Maintain a written log of contents delivered and received
- Communicate with site manager regarding daily volumes delivered and received
- Monitor vehicles and inform site manager of any preventative maintenance needed to ensure safety and longevity of fleet
- Able to responsibly manage use of gas cards
Qualifications:
- Valid, violation-free driver’s license
- Must be able to possess/obtain a valid DOT health card (CDL is not required)
- Ability to lift and move packages and freight of all sizes including manual lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- Ability and willingness to drive a delivery van in NJ and NYC
- Knowledge of standard mail processing practices, shipping providers and standard shipping systems used i.e., UPS, FedEx, etc.
- Ability to organize, track inbound and outbound mail and shipments via standard tracking software systems
- Basic understanding of Microsoft Windows programs (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to prioritize workload as needed to meet deadlines
- Excellent customer service skills. Ability to resolve customer concerns effectively
