Emergency Technician Assistant

Maine Veterinary Medical Center is looking to add a compassionate and skilled Technician Assistant to our team. This role will be responsible for working on the ER/ICU floor. Available schedules are Sunday through Tuesday from 6a-6p OR Sunday through Tuesday 8a-8p OR Thursday through Saturday 6a-6p; availability for one of these schedules is required.

Maine Veterinary Medical Center (MVMC) is a VECCS level two certified Rarebreed practice that has full in-house laboratory capabilities, a fluoroscopy suite for interventional procedures, a helical 16-slice CT, MRI, respiratory ventilator, in-house telemetric monitoring, ultrasound and endoscopy. MVMC has well-staffed departments in Neurology, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Oncology, Cardiology, Radiology, Ophthalmology, Rehab and Acupuncture and great team of emergency clinicians and criticalists to offer advanced services to a well-educated client base.    

Technician Assistant   

Maine Veterinary Medical Center in Scarborough, ME   

$18.00-$22.00 per hour based on experience, plus an extra 25% differential on pay!

WHAT YOU’LL DO    

  • Demonstrate appropriate and efficient methods of restraint 
  • Assist in daily hospital maintenance, including but not limited to laundry, stocking, cleaning, walking patients, cleaning litter boxes, and daily treatment tasks 
  • Efficiently and safely multitask with exams, in house lab work, radiology, and other-directed tasks
  • Clean cages and runs to acceptable hospital standards 
  • Provide compassionate care for all clients and patients in varying emotional states 
  • Fill medications for outpatients and hospitalized patients, as instructed  
  • Maintain positive and professional working relationships with all team members 
  • Be able to take constructive criticism from leadership 
  • Follow directions and orders from veterinarians or veterinary technicians 
  • Identify when assistance is needed in different areas of the hospital  
  • Participate in continued education provided by MVMC
  • Ability to stay focused in turbulent environments. 
  • Assist in emergency situations, such as controlling bleeding, administering medications or fluids, and performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). 
  • Assist in the aftercare process in a respectful manner.

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum one year previous experience in a veterinary or animal handling role required
