Maintenance Technician

Position Summary:

The Maintenance Technician will support both facilities (buildings 14 and 117) of IS&C located off Ridge Road, Rochester, NY (near the intersection of Lake Avenue and Rt. 104).

Will be responsible for a wide range of mechanical and safety-related systems within the phosphor making and coating areas. They will perform routine / preventative maintenance on facility (HVAC, plumbing, etc.) systems, phosphor making (mixing, weighing, size reduction, etc.) systems, solution making & delivery (mixers, pumps, piping, etc.) systems and coating (drives, rollers, bearings, hoists, etc.) systems. Troubleshoot mechanical / electrical issues & repair as needed and communicate timely order completion. Will also work with and schedule contractors for major repairs.

Position Responsibilities:

• Perform routine / preventative maintenance on facility (HVAC, plumbing, etc.) systems, phosphor making (mixing, weighing, size reduction, etc.) systems, solution making & delivery (mixers, pumps, piping, etc.) systems and coating (drives, rollers, bearings, hoists, etc.) systems. Consult and aid Process engineer and Facility Manager in predictive and preventive maintenance systems to reduce unscheduled downtime.
• Troubleshoots mechanical / electrical issues & repair as needed.
• Lead /Assists the team in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.

• Work Hours: Mainly days Monday - Friday, 40+ hours.

Required Skills & Education:

• High School or GED + > 5 years of experience in a chemical production or machine operating environment.

• Trade School certificate in hydraulics, pneumatics, Tool & Die, mechanical & electrical preferred.

• Knowledgeable in the areas of facility (HVAC, plumbing, etc.) systems, phosphor making (mixing, weighing, size reduction, etc.) systems, solution making & delivery (mixers, pumps, piping, etc.) systems and coating (drives, rollers, bearings, hoists, etc.) systems.

• Good interpersonal, verbal, written, and electronic communication skills.
