Manager of Financial Analysis - Premium

UFG is currently hiring for a Manager of Financial Analysis who will lead our management reporting and financial forecasting processes, assist with building financial forecast models, and coordinate with key stakeholders. The individual in this role will work closely with personnel in analytics, finance, and the other business units to provide analysis, management reporting and forward-looking projections of insurance company financial performance related to premiums and acquisition costs. This position will help develop and communicate efficient, repeatable processes across the enterprise, while remaining aligned with the Finance and Enterprise roadmaps.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly management reporting of premium and related acquisition costs compared to budget and prior period actual results, diving deeply into financial data and becoming a subject matter expert to provide additional insights
  • Coordinate the annual budget and periodic forecasting workflows from various internal and external sources, including expected premiums and related acquisition costs, partnering with leadership across the business units
  • Create presentations that provide insightful analysis, identify actions and frame decisions to be made
  • Work on projects and initiatives focused on premium and acquisition costs to continually improve processes and capabilities
  • Lead premium processes that enable one source of truth across the organization, ensuring information is consumable for various audiences
  • Support business case analysis, ensuring financial assumptions included are sound
  • Assist with development of Tableau and other reporting tools to provide comparative business results and analytics
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with business partners and cross-functional teams at all levels of the organization
  • Serve as liaison for the investor relations team providing Q&A support and other ad hoc analysis related to premium and related acquisition costs
  • Manage processes that support financial analysis activities, often acting as a player-coach for team members while being hands-on and detail oriented. Inspire and motivate others through various projects
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in statistics, accounting, finance, or related discipline required.

Experience:

  • 8 years+ of progressively responsible experience in the P&C insurance industry in a Corporate or Business Finance role preferred
  • Experience in P&C insurance corporate planning and financial forecasting, preferably in commercial lines of business preferred.

Knowledge, skills & abilities:

  • General knowledge of accounting/financial/operational principles
  • Knowledge of both statutory and GAAP accounting principles preferred
  • Interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with various management levels
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to a changing, fast-paced environment
  • Strong Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, sound judgment, decision making skills and business acumen
  • Superior attention to detail and ability to successfully manage multiple competing priorities while maintaining a view of the big picture
  • Demonstrated ability to influence others through effective verbal and written communication
  • Demonstrated ability to drive projects across an organization
