MGF Houston is looking for a full time Air/Ocean Import Specialist to join our growing team. We are looking for an individual with a passion for the freight forwarding industry. We are a tight team that works well together and we are looking for another passionate individual who can help us to grow to the next level. 

Job Description

Coordinate the successful routing of  import Shipments via air and ocean. Job purpose is inclusive of handling files from quoting international freight, arranging shipment from start to finish, preparing documents, sending documents to the appropriate parties, invoicing & costing accurately and closing the file in a timely manner.

Import Air and Ocean:

  • Quote international freight for Air and Ocean moves using knowledge of incoterms
  • Receive documents from overseas agents and initiate the logging process. 
  • Confirm data received is in compliance with all US Customs requirements
  • Process all documents in accordance with requirements
  • Doc turnovers to brokerage department 
  • Coordinate cargo availability and arrange pick up and delivery
  • Finalize billing and distribute documents as required 
  • Ensure all communications are prompt and content is accurate 

Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience in freight forwarding operations
  • Computer Literate (Google Platform a plus)
  • Cargowise Knowledge is a plus
  • customs entry writing knowledge is a plus
  • Good communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to be diplomatic in stressful situations
  • Ability to work in a time sensitive environment
  • Ability to be proactive
  • Ability to be flexible
  • Good telephone manners
  • Ability to work well with others as well as individually
