Position Overview:
The Navistar San Antonio Manufacturing Plant is a benchmark facility that builds leading-edge commercial vehicles to meet the needs of today’s – and tomorrow’s – customers. By using proven engineering and leading technology and manufacturing principles, Navistar takes mobility and transport to a new level of impact. This facility has the flexibility to build Class 6-8 trucks along with Electric Vehicles that allow Navistar to add capacity to support anticipated industry growth. Using the Internet of Things (IoT) and connected manufacturing principles, Navistar's newest manufacturing facility will continue growing our market share gains, optimizing our supplier network and improving quality.

We are currently seeking a Business Unit Manager - General Assembly that would Directs the development and implementation of activities in production area(s) to meet production goals, quality, and cost objectives. Prioritizes production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, and materials supply.
Responsibilities:
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Directs the development and implementation of activities in production area(s) to meet production goals, quality, and cost objectives.
  • Prioritizes production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, materials supply and other business needs. Plans and administers procedures and budgets.
  • Makes budgetary recommendations and may control capital expenditures and direct/indirect labor.
  • Develops schedules and manpower requirements for assigned areas. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
  • Lead and facilitate daily/weekly/monthly safety meetings and lead/assist in the resolution of safety items
  • Lead and Accountable on Business Team meetings
  • Responsible for leading and managing the organization and ensuring achievement of safety, quality, delivery and cost objectives
  • Responsible for interfacing with internal customers and developing operation/business plan
  • Responsible for achievement of daily production requirements for all customers
  • Responsible for continuous improvement initiatives
  • Responsible for cultivating a healthy high-performance culture through-out the organization, including both management and hourly paid personnel
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 8 years of product manufacturing experience
  • At least 2 years of management experience
OR
  • Master’s degree
  • At least 6 years of product manufacturing experience
  • At least 2 years of management experience
OR
  • At least 10 years of product manufacturing experience
  • At least 2 years of management experience
Additional Requirements:
  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)

  • Demonstrated understanding in the compliance of Company Safety and Environmental Policies
  • Experience in the development and implementation of strategic business planning
  • Demonstrated knowledge in lean manufacturing and automation in the manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated experience in leading an organization based on achievement of business goals
  • Proven ability to drive cultural changes from the top down, through all organizational levels
  • Demonstrated knowledge of quality and material systems in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
  • Ability to coach employees at all levels
  • Ability to learn in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability and willingness to work any shift
  • Ability to work in outdoor environment
