AVL Test Systems is hiring a Manufacturing Tech II, looking to continue growth in their career in electrical and mechanical. This position will support a diverse range of customers providing the ability to grow and develop in different areas. Travel for this position will be 50% with the ability to increase pending required customer work.
The Manufacturing Tech II provides delivery and installation of professional and customer-oriented services according to customer requirements and the manufacturing, CS, and order fulfillment processes. Responsibilities include product and system unpackaging, installation, set-up, debug, configuration, calibration troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair for AVL Hardware and Software. Responsible for performing the electrical skills necessary to assemble all types of emissions and engine related test equipment and instrumentation. Requires capability to execute electrical skills; working from blueprints and under engineering direction, must be able to execute a finished piece independently with close supervision.
Qualified individuals for this opportunity will minimally possess 5 years of experience in electrical, mechanical and/or installation experience. In addition, strong communication skills and customer service experience and abilities are required.

Responsibilities:
- Act as Liaison and company representative with customers. Represent AVL with the highest level of professionalism.
- Overall installation of systems, working alone, or with skilled trades to complete electrical installation in an on time every time fashion
- Install and or support mechanical and electrical installation and termination of field wiring systems. Verify against drawing
- Perform at customer site; test equipment and system installation, configuration, maintenance and calibration to AVL specification as define though the AVL Qualification Initiative (QI).
- Troubleshoot and repair products and systems to AVL specifications following defined processes.
- Wire emissions and engine test related equipment per drawing or wire list as specified
- Work closely with engineering/mechanical/pneumatics to ensure proper and smooth assembly of product
- Power up / troubleshoot equipment
- Final electrical quality inspection of equipment
- Maintain adherence to AVL and global quality systems including but not limited to the AVL Quality initiative and ISO17025.
- Initial system checks in preparation for commissioning.
- Document discrepancies and feed back to engineering
- Professional and timely completion of service and commissioning reports, expense reports and other administrative responsibilities as required.
- Actively participate in developing one’s own training plan and exhibits ownership in completing training towards realization of selected diplomas and competency.
- Provide feedback and improvement suggestions on troubleshooting guides and continuous improvement methods to increase operating equipment effectiveness (O.E.E.).
- Generates calibration certificates, service reports and is responsible for evaluation and presentation of results
- Perform in-house repair, post production operation tests of new equipment as required.
- Perform manufacturing shop floor tasks as assigned by supervisor.
- Maintain a safe and clean work area in accordance to 5S standards.
- The ability to communicate with customers in a professional way and in the ability to independently describe, categorize, analyze and solve service requests and issues.
- Ability to present informal operator instruction on AVL products and test systems
- Maintains assigned calibration equipment.
- Complete all applicable safety training.
Qualifications:
- Trade school, Engineering certificate/diploma or equivalent preferred
- 5+ years’ experience with test automation equipment and test bed operations
- Understanding of electrical and mechanical processes
- Knowledge of complete test cell operation and its contents
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- The ability to cope with negative feedback from customers, exhibit patience and possess excellent listening skills
- Must be willing to travel 75%+.
- Able to read / understand control circuits
- Experienced in electrical panel assembly
- Experience with multimeter functions
- Experience on AC / DC control systems
- Basic knowledge of PLC
