Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Data Modeler to design, develop, and manage data structures that support our organization’s analytics, reporting, and operational needs. The Data Modeler will work closely with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to ensure that data systems are robust, scalable, and optimized for performance.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Data Modeling:
    • Design and develop logical, physical, and conceptual data models to support business objectives.
    • Create and maintain data dictionaries and data mapping documents.
  2. Collaboration with Stakeholders:
    • Work with business and technical teams to understand data requirements and translate them into efficient data models.
    • Collaborate with data engineers to implement models in data warehouses, data lakes, and databases.
  3. Optimization and Maintenance:
    • Optimize database performance by analyzing and adjusting data models.
    • Ensure data models comply with best practices and standards for data governance and security.
  4. Data Quality and Integrity:
    • Define and implement standards to ensure data consistency and integrity across systems.
    • Monitor and troubleshoot data-related issues, providing recommendations for improvement.
  5. Documentation and Reporting:
    • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for data models, schemas, and processes.
    • Generate insights and reports to support business decision-making.

Qualifications and Skills

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in data modeling, database design, or a similar role.
  • Proficiency in data modeling tools (e.g., Erwin, PowerDesigner, or similar).
  • Strong knowledge of relational, dimensional, and NoSQL databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
  • Experience with ETL processes and data integration tools.
  • Familiarity with big data platforms (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

Preferred:

  • Certification in data modeling or data management (e.g., CDMP).
  • Experience with modern data architecture frameworks and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills to liaise with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
