Anniston Operations (Tyler Union and M&H Valve) is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Environmental Engineer with a minimum of three (3) years related experience to join the team. The ideal candidate will utilize their expertise and knowledge in environmental science and engineering to develop solutions, implement programs, and maintain procedures and programs to minimize environmental risks and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • 1st Responsibility – Ensuring personal safety and the safety of team members.
  • Wears appropriate PPE, which may include fall protection, respiratory protection, hearing protection, foot, hand, head, and eye protection.
  • Proactively promotes The McWane Way principles.
  • Assists in the development of a compliance strategy(s) to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Manages environmental project activities including operation and maintenance of air pollution control equipment, stormwater monitoring equipment, process water, feasibility studies, and other plans.
  • Assists in the operation of an effective environmental management system.
  • Assesses the environmental risk of activities and advises team members of environmental impact.
  • Able to calculate potential-to-emit calculations for air permit applications/modifications.
  • Develops and implements sampling and monitoring plans, which may include installing, operating, and maintaining equipment.
  • Familiar with Method 9 visible emission observations.
  • Conducts storm water sampling protocol in accordance with EPA standards.
  • Uses knowledge of RCRA and DOT Rules.
  • Interprets data and observations to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry guidelines and advises management accordingly.
  • Prepares technical documentation for management's use when dealing with regulatory agencies and other internal/external needs.
  • Prepares reports such as environmental monitoring reports and shipping reports for review and submission to regulatory agency.
  • Able to calculate material composition calculations for EPCRA reporting.
  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to address environmental issues.
  • Reports any unsafe conditions or incidents in a timely manner to their supervisor or any member of management.
  • Looks for opportunities to get employees involved in environmental process changes and overall improvement efforts.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Works with plant supervisors to direct hourly employees in completing environmental-related job duties properly.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, environmental science, chemistry, or related field.
  • Minimum of three years’ related experience and/or training; foundry environmental experience preferred.
  • Experience with conducting environmental audits, assessing potential exposure, determining corrective action, and maintaining environmental files and records.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local safety standards and regulations.
  • Knowledge of RCRA and DOT rules and regulations.
  • Solid computer experience including proficiency with Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Must demonstrate problem-solving mathematical skills to find the right solutions to environmental issues.
  • Ability to maintain effective relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Air permitting experience preferred.

Language Skills                   

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Project Management software, spreadsheet software, and word processing software.
