Based in Chevy Chase, Maryland, our award-winning Tangled Bank Studios, BioInteractive program, and key journalism partnerships promote greater understanding of the living world and our role in sustaining it.
Summary:
HHMI is focused on supporting and moving science forward in a variety of different ways ranging from conducting basic biomedical research, empowering educators, inspiring students, developing the next generation of scientists, and public engagement. Our Headquarters is in the greater Washington, DC metro area and is home to over 300 employees who support our research and science education mission. As part of HHMI’s BioInteractive program, you will collaborate with a dedicated team of educators, scientists, and media developers to advance life science education for millions of students by providing educators with a broad range of classroom resources, professional development opportunities, and community.
In this position, the Media Editor will support BioInteractive’s Educational Media team by producing educational and promotional videos and graphics as well as managing media assets on a variety of platforms.
This role will report in person to our headquarters in Chevy Chase, MD four days each week.

What you’ll do:
Video Production
Collaborate with other team members to produce short educational and promotional videos, including editing, sound mixing, color correction, and narration recording.
Serve as the team's videographer and photographer.
Design simple on-screen graphics and animations.
Perform post-production tasks, including producing logs, scripts, and transcripts.
Visual Design
Design simple graphics for a variety of materials, including slides, posters, ads, and reports.
Design slides for presentations by team members.
Media Asset Management
Log, organize, and prepare videos, images, and associated metadata for various media asset management systems.
Provide project support related to media assets, including searching for images and video footage.
Assist with the administration of BioInteractive YouTube, Vimeo, and other media platforms.
What you bring:
Bachelor’s Degree in film, media, or at least two years of equivalent professional experience working in a video editing role and working with media asset management systems.
Experience working in educational media a plus.
Experience producing simple animated graphics a plus.
Experience with graphic design a plus.
Experience with videography and photography a plus.
Fluency in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro.
Ability to export files into a variety of formats.
Knowledge of media asset management systems.
Proficiency in graphic design software, such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
Knowledge of presentation tools, such as PowerPoint or Keynote.
Willingness to learn new technologies and software as appropriate.

$52,818.40 (minimum) - $66,023.00 (midpoint) - $85,829.90 (maximum)

HHMI’s salary structure is developed based on relevant job market data. HHMI considers a candidate's education, previous experiences, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity when making job offers. Typically, a new hire for this position in this location is compensated between the minimum and the midpoint of the salary range.
